“I’m doing it anyway,” Faye said, her face set with stubborn resolve. “I’m your girlfriend, so I’m not going to stand by while my dad and your ex–wife go after you. In ten days, I’ll be there to back you up.”
Ashton saw the resolve in Faye’s eyes. He hesitated for a moment, then gave a reluctant nod.
“Fine. But don’t risk your life unless I can’t fight anymore,” he reminded her.
“Okay.”
Faye gave a slight nod, though her thoughts were clearly elsewhere.
With that, the lineup was decided. The showdown at Terminus Cliff was set for ten days from now. It would decide who controlled the criminal underworld and the establishment in Javonbury.
The cold wind swept through the air, and everyone present shivered.
“No sooner does one crisis settle than another erupts. The struggle over Javonbury has reached a critical stage. Ten days from now at Terminus Cliff, the duel will decide who is the rightful King of Javonbury.
“It’ll also determine whether the Legion can establish itself here and rise again. And, it will decide Ashton’s fate.”
“This is insane! This battle includes a father fighting his daughter, a husband opposing his wife, and bitter rivals in love. It feels like this is bound to happen.”
“The stakes are too high. No one can afford to lose.”
“One side is the appointed heir of an ancient martial arts family. The other is a man who keeps creating miracles. Who will claim Javonbury and become its undisputed king? Just thinking about it gets my blood pumping.”
“Ten more days… The anticipation is killing me. I can’t wait to see this fight that’s bound to go down in Javonbury’s history.”
“I’m guessing the Curios Chamber will open betting tonight. I have a feeling the wagers will break records again. They might pass 800 billion and even reach a trillion. Too many forces are involved in this fight. It’s unbelievable.”
Almost imperceptibly, killing intent returned to Grandcrest Estate.
Cassian’s gaze swept over Ashton, Leona, and Faye, his eyes dark and unreadable. He hadn’t expected the two women to oppose him so openly, but he didn’t take it seriously.
Once Ashton met his end, they would understand who the true King of Javonbury was, who stood at the center of this world, and who defined this era. To him, Ashton was nothing more than a supporting figure.
“Ashton, I’ll behead you at Terminus Cliff in ten days.” Cassian let out a smug smile. “Of course, you still have ten days to surrender. If you crawl to me and submit, I might spare your life. Think it over.”
Ashton met his gaze and replied defiantly, “You’ve got ten days, too. Do what you need to do. Get your affairs in order. Otherwise, you won’t get another chance.”
Cassian let out a dismissive laugh. “We’ll see if you’re still this arrogant in ten days.”
Then, he turned to George and Roxy. “Let’s go.”
George fixed his eyes on Ashton and Faye for a long moment. He then turned and left with Cassian.
Roxy’s gaze lingered on Leona and Faye, her face hardening as she followed behind him.
At that instant, she brushed past Ashton. They were no longer standing on the same side. In ten days, they might face one another in a life–or–death duel that would completely end the grievances between them.
“Mr. Clarkson Senior, let’s go,” Ashton said. He gathered what little strength he had left and held Lawrence up.

Lawrence was suffering severe backlash. Ashton had to treat him with acupuncture as soon as possible. If the torn wounds inside him continued to spread, the consequences would be disastrous.
Soon, Ashton and Lawrence left under the escort of the legionnaires and returned to the residence.
Night settled over the city, but the tension never eased.
Representatives from every faction also left quickly. They had to prepare for the coming upheaval in Javonbury. More importantly, they had to decide where they would stand in ten days and how to maximize their interests.
