The restraint in Ashton’s eyes gave way to a burning desire, and fierce, unrestrained hunger surfaced in his expression. In the next instant, he pulled Melody into his arms like a starving wolf.

At the Sloan residence, Eunice once again tried to persuade Roxy to end her cooperation with Cassian, but she failed. She also learned that Roxy would meet him the following day to refine their cultivation method, strengthen her power, and finalize a plan to deal with Ashton.

Left with no other choice, Eunice departed and began thinking of another way she might help Ashton.

“Ms. Clark.”

At that moment, Robert walked over and stopped Eunice as she was about to leave the villa. He pulled her aside and lowered his voice as he spoke.

“Is my sister still determined to have a life–or–death duel with Ashton?”

Eunice nodded.

“We can’t let them end up trying to kill each other,” he added anxiously. “If they cross that line, there’ll be no turning back. Miss Clark, can you help me?”

“How do you want me to help?” she asked.

Robert glanced around before laying out his plan.

“They shared a marriage, and feelings like that don’t disappear overnight. I know my sister and Ashton still have feelings for each other, but they’re both too proud to admit they were wrong. They’re clearly in love, and I refuse to let them push each other to the point of no return. Here’s what I’m thinking…”

He lowered his voice and continued, “I’ll find a way to get them into bed together again. Once that happens, all their conflicts

will work themselves out.”

Eunice was momentarily stunned. She instinctively believed the idea was impossible. But as she considered it further, she began to think that it might not be entirely unworkable. After all, her own relationship with Ashton had only deepened after they had spent a night together.

“The problem is they’re at each other’s throats right now,” she said. “How could we possibly get them to sleep together? Direct persuasion won’t work. But if we create the right conditions…”

Robert responded in a low voice, “When the time comes, I’ll give Roxy a heavy dose of aphrodisiacs. You find a way to make Ashton take a large dose as well. Then, we lock them in a room and throw away the key. Under those circumstances, their passion will inevitably reignite.

“After one night together, there won’t be any conflict they can’t resolve.”

Eunice’s eyes lit up, thinking it was indeed a viable solution. She looked at him, puzzled.

“I thought you looked down on Ashton, Why would you want your sister to get back together with him?”

He rubbed his nose and said, “I was immature back then. Now I’ve got nothing but respect for him, and I believe he won’t lose to that so–called King of Javonbury. I just don’t want my sister to keep making the same mistake.”

“Fine. We’ll do it your way,” Eunice said in a low voice. “I’ll provide the aphrodisiac and make sure no one detects anything suspicious. And it has to be done before the life–or–death duel at Terminus Cliff begins.”

“Ms. Clark, I’m counting on you,” Robert said, his face lighting up with excitement. “I’ll leave the arrangements to you.”

With that, Eunice hurriedly left and immediately began making arrangements.
