Chapter 829
“Mr. Clarkson Senior, you promised you wouldn’t use your inner energy again. Your body can’t withstand another internal tear or backlash,” Ashton said with a frown.
Lawrence patted him on the shoulder and replied confidently, “Relax. I know what I’m doing.”
Ashton was about to argue further, but Lawrence cut him off.
“Go find Leona. She’s been waiting for you. If you get the chance…”
He giggled before continuing, “You might as well win her over. There’s a saying, isn’t there? A young man who doesn’t chase romance wastes his youth.”
Ashton said nothing. He felt that Lawrence was becoming more shameless by the day.
After a brief pause, he reminded Lawrence of several precautions he needed to observe. Only then did he rise and leave, heading toward the place where Leona was cultivating.
After Ashton left, the smile on Lawrence’s face slowly faded. His expression darkened as he asked, “Is the news accurate? The Dominion Vanguard and the Empyrean Sentinel have made their moves.
“Has the Jalunese Martial Association sent people as well? And have members of the Lowery family already entered Javonbury?”
“Mr. Clarkson Senior, it’s not just those forces,” Neil replied, his face tight with concern. “There are many who do not want the Legion to rise again. They won’t sit back and watch us take control of the city, secure the spirit ore mine, and obtain the funds for development.”
Lawrence let out a cold snort.
“They’re nothing more than cowards who were frightened by the Legion in the past.”
Disdain flashed across his face, and killing intent flickered in his eyes.
“It seems the battle at Terminus Cliff is not only aimed at Ashton. It’s aimed at the Legion and at me. Looks like killing Logan wasn’t enough. As long as those old men remain alive in the shadows, the Legion will never truly establish itself in Javonbury.”
“Should we submit a request to the Council, or notify that person within the Legion?” Neil asked in a low voice.
Lawrence considered the suggestion for a moment before shaking his head.
“The Cabinet won’t interfere in this matter. They may even want to dissolve the Legion themselves. As for her, our organization already owes her enough. I won’t trouble her over this.”
A faint, teasing smile crossed Lawrence’s face as he said, “Go bring me my silver spear.”
Neil froze and lowered his voice.
“Ashton specifically told you not to use your inner energy. If you focus on recovery, you can return to your peak condition.”
Lawrence let out a sigh.
“I’m getting old. Even if I return to my peak condition, I’ve already hit my ceiling. The Legion now has a new leader. My role now is to see him through this final stretch. Go and bring me my silver spear. I want to see who dares to look down on our organization.”
Neil had no choice but to retrieve Lawrence’s long–sealed silver spear.
“Sovereign Silver Spear… My old friend, it’s been a long time,” Lawrence said.
His calloused hand brushed away the layer of dust that had settled on the weapon.

“Old friend, fight one last battle with me.”
A short while later, Ashton arrived outside Leona’s cultivation room.
“Who’s there?”
Red flames surged through the room like a Wyvern stirring to life, and immense pressure bore down on him.
At the same time, his Drakeborne lineage flared violently within him, and the Drakell technique roared out of control.
The power of Leona’s Wyvernborne lineage exerted an almost fatal attraction on him. His gaze grew feverish as an urge rose inside him to overpower her. She was also a chosen maiden. If he could claim her, he would gain an overwhelming amount of spiritual energy.
“Ms. Lavigne, it’s me,” Ashton replied.
“Ashton?”
Moments later, Leona appeared before him in a red dress. Her eyes gleamed as she sensed the aura surrounding him.
“Have you broken into the divine realm?” she asked.
Ashton shook his head. “I just need that final breakthrough.”
