“You shameless jerk. Are you trying to take advantage of me again?” Faye snapped, shooting him a sharp glare.
“The man I choose has to stand above everyone else. You don’t qualify yet. And, if you die at Terminus Cliff, you can forget about ever being my husband.”
“If I defeat Cassian and become the King of Javonbury, will you be my wife?”
Ashton stared at her intently. As the most beautiful woman in Javonbury and the chosen maiden who carried the Phoenixborne lineage, he intended to have her.
“We’ll see when the time comes,” she said.
Seeing how calm he remained, she relaxed slightly. Since there were two days left, she would use every moment to grow
stronger.
“It’s about time. I’m going to see Mr. Clarkson Senior. The arrangements should be moving forward by now. I’ll see you at Terminus Cliff.”
Ashton stood up and prepared to leave.
Fayd watched his departing figure, a faint flush appearing on her face. Over the past few days, their time together had brought them noticeably closer.
“Can you really win the fight at Terminus Cliff?” she muttered to herself.
Ashton was on his way to Lawrence’s residence when Wanda’s message came through. She had followed his instructions and wagered every dollar controlled by him and the Legion.
This time, he and the legionnaires went all in. They would either take complete control of Javonbury or lose all that they had previously gained, because compromise had never been an option.
At the same time, news of the duel between Ashton and Cassian at Terminus Cliff swept across Javonbury like a storm. Every faction in the city was watching, and every forum was talking about the same thing.
“Between Ashton and Cassian, who will become the King of Javonbury in two days?” one commenter asked.
He went on, “This fight will determine who controls both the criminal underworld and the establishment. The outcome would shape the city’s future. If Ashton wins, Javonbury will have a new ruler.
“If Cassian wins, the city will fall under the control of the ancient martial arts family, and no other force will have room to survive.”
“According to the latest betting odds, Cassian holds an absolute advantage,” another voice responded.
“He’s a divine realm expert, and his trusted aide, Javonbury’s richest man, George Moore, is rumored to have reached the same level. With two divine realm experts on their side, who could possibly oppose them?
“Ashton may have brought Flint to justice and crowned himself ruler of the criminal underworld, but he is only in the semi- divine realm. The chances of him creating another miracle are almost nonexistent.”
“I heard George wagered his entire family fortune against everyone betting on Ashton. This is a winner–takes–all duel. I can’t
wait to see how it ends.”
“There are only two days left. Whether Ashton, the so–called chosen one, can defeat the Lowery family’s appointed heir will soon be decided. Either way, this duel is going to cause a stir.”
“I support Mr. Gray unconditionally.”
Someone snorted and said, “Cassian has never lost. Javonbury does not need two legends, Ashton is doomed.”

Public opinion became increasingly divided by the hour.
Ashton paid no attention to it. He went to Lawrence’s residence and found him in a serious discussion with Neil.
“Mr. Clarkson Senior.”
Ashton stepped to Lawrence’s side and first examined his condition, finding that it was better than he had expected. He then applied the Ninefold Arcane Technique, using the silver needles to further heal Lawrence’s injuries.
“As long as you focus on rest and recovery, you will eventually return to your peak condition,” he said with a smile.
He had realized that Lawrence’s natural recovery ability was astonishing. Without it, the severe internal injuries and the backlash against his own body would have already left him crippled.
“That’s great,” Lawrence replied, looking at Ashton with affection and motioning for him to sit.
“How confident are you about the fight with Cassian?”
