This time, Ashton took noticeably longer to get back on his feet. The black lightning and flames coiling around him had grown unstable. His breathing was ragged, and his body swayed as if he might collapse at any moment.
“Do you feel it yet? The fear and the despair? Do you finally see the gap between us?”
Cassian stood in spotless white robes, calmly regulating his breathing as he prepared to launch his final assault.
“You fight like a coward!” Ashton spat. “And I’m still standing.”
The excitement in his eyes turned feverish. His Drakeborne lineage roared through his veins. Pushed to the edge of his limits, he suddenly grasped something new, and his control over his power rose to another level.
He could already feel the barrier to the divine realm loosening again. The seal deep within his soul was beginning to crack, barely able to hold back the breakthrough.
Cassian snorted coldly. “If that’s your choice, I’ll finish you right here.”
He stabilized the flow of his aura as his white robes fluttered in the wind. Power surged through his Overlord Physique, and the gathering force sealed off Ashton’s last path of retreat.
“This is where your life ends. Now, die!”
Cassian shot forward with terrifying speed, instantly dragging Ashton into his domain. A beam of white light condensed in his palm and blasted outward with overwhelming force, aiming to shatter Ashton’s defenses and obliterate him.
This was the death Cassian had chosen for him, a killing blow meant to instill fear in everyone watching.
All around him, Ashton was trapped. Killing intent sealed every path of escape, and the white beam had already locked onto his vital point. His life and death would be decided in a single heartbeat.
“Lawrence, can you still laugh now? Go on, laugh.”
Jaden, former head of the Dominion Vanguard, stared at him with cold amusement.
He continued, “I told you long ago that Ashton could never defeat Cassian. The Legion will never rise again. You could have stepped down with dignity, so why push things this far?”
Thomas, former head of the Empyrean Sentinel, chimed in with his own mockery.
“You refused to accept reality before, but now the end is right in front of you. Lawrence, it’s time to face the truth. Ashton and your Legion are finished.”
Lawrence had been so arrogant earlier. Now they wanted to see if he could keep that same arrogance while watching Ashton die. They meant to repay every humiliation tenfold.
Standing beside Lawrence, Kayla, Neil, and Leona trembled as they watched the fight. Their faces were pale with worry for Ashton. Some of them even felt the urge to beg Lawrence to forcefully end the fight.
However, he only wore a faint smile, showing little concern. When he heard the mockery from Jaden and the others, he snorted softly.
“So, you’re all certain Ashton will lose? And that Cassian will win this fight?”
“Is there any other possibility? Actions speak louder than words, Lawrence. There’s no point pretending anymore. Ashton and the Legion are finished! This is your fate,” Jaden replied with a twisted grin.
He was eager to see Lawrence lose his temper and watch his composure collapse.
“Lawrence, your disciple is nothing special,” Thomas said coldly. “Just like the Legion. Both of them are relics of a dying era,
