Cassian took a step back and shouted to the middle–aged man rushing toward him, “Take me out of here now! Ashton’s eyes narrowed, and killing intent surged through him.
Cassian had already made his threats, and Ashton had no intention of letting him leave alive. He was nothing like Clay, an expendable opponent who could be dealt with later.
If Cassian survived today, he would become a serious problem–and Ashton hated problems.
Ashton’s body tensed as he prepared to burst forward at full speed and stop the middle–aged man from rescuing Cassian. But just as Ashton was about to move, a silver spear tore through the air.
The weapon seemed to ignore distance itself, crossing the space between them in an instant. The spearhead carried a terrifying, force, crushing every trace of power the middle–aged man had gathered before piercing his heart.
For a moment, time seemed to freeze.
The middle–aged man, whose aura had radiated terrifying power only moments earlier, stood frozen, eyes wide in shock and fear. His body refused to move, yet his gaze slowly shifted as he struggled to look toward Lawrence.
Blood streamed from the wound in his chest and dripped to the ground one drop at a time, each drop striking the stone with a sharp, hollow tap.
The horrifying scene left everyone present stunned.
“W–What happened?”
“Lawrence made his move. Someone from the Lowery family tried to rescue Cassian, but Lawrence’s attack pierced his heart. He’s definitely dead.”
“Lawrence? Wasn’t he supposed to be barely holding on and close to death? How could he still wield such terrifying power? That attack was beyond anything I can understand.”
“Lawrence is still as domineering as ever.”
At that moment, the middle–aged man struggled. The silver spear lodged in his chest suddenly exploded, and the man was blown apart instantly. His body disintegrated into fragments, leaving only scattered droplets of blood falling to the ground.
Lawrence coughed lightly after unleashing that strike, and the color drained from his face. Kayla and Neil quickly stepped forward to support him.
“I’m fine,” Lawrence said with a faint smile.
He then turned his cold gaze toward Gavin and spoke indifferently.
“This is a fight between two young men. Outsiders shouldn’t interfere. Given the Lowery family’s status, I assume you can afford to lose with dignity. Surely, you’re not planning to disgrace yourselves like this.”
Gavin and the other members of the Lowery family stiffened, unable to hide the anger on their faces. Lawrence openly mocked them for their inability to accept defeat.
Gavin drew a slow breath and spoke after a moment of hesitation.
“Lawrence, there’s no reason to take things this far. You should leave yourself a way out. I doubt the Legion truly wishes to become mortal enemies with the Lowery family.”
He paused before continuing, “How about this. Have Ashton release Cassian, and we will call this fight a draw. In return, we will establish friendly relations with the Legion. What do you say?”
