Chapter 92
“You definitely can’t do that!” Calvin cried out.
Anna’s suggestion alarmed him at once. What if Roxy did end up asking Ashton for help? What if they got back together afterward? Where would that leave him?
His eyes flickered for a moment, and a thought came to him. “I figured it out, Roxy! This is all part of Ashton’s dirty scheme! He’s the one who sent these people over to humiliate you. His goal is to force you into apologizing to him! You’d be falling right into his trap if you asked him for help!”
Calvin’s expression was filled with malice as he continued, “Think about it, Roxy. Ashton was part of the criminal underworld in the first place. I’m sure he’s acquainted with these people.
“Why did they choose to come here now, of all times, to cause trouble? It’s obviously a deliberate move! This explained why they didn’t show me any respect either. It’s all because of that petty, despicable man!”
“Mr. Gray would never do that!” Anna protested with a frown. “The Blackfang Gang, the Crimsons, and the Triune have always sought protection fees from all the nightlife establishments in this area!”
“You can never know what a person’s really like, Anna! If it’s not Ashton’s doing, then why aren’t they causing trouble for Evermore Club, huh?” Calvin retorted, firm in his belief that this was Ashton’s doing.
“If you seek Ashton out, Roxy, he’ll definitely mock you! I can already picture that loathsome smirk of his!”
Roxy fully concurred with Calvin’s words, putting a stop to any possibility of her seeking Ashton’s help. She could resolve this matter without him!
After glancing at Arlo and the others, she said, “How’s this? I don’t want to make things any uglier. Since the three of you have approached me, I’ll show you some goodwill as well.
“From now on, Summit Lounge will give each of you a million dollars a month. Consider it a token of my friendship.”
“A million dollars, Ms. Sloan? Who do you think we are? Beggars?” Nathan scoffed as he slammed his hand against the table. “Five million dollars is our minimum. Anything less, and our people will be spending all of their time having a blast at Summit Lounge every night.
“You’re running a business, so I’m sure you won’t chase us out, right, Ms. Sloan?”
He cackled as he eyed Roxy menacingly.
Roxy’s eyelids twitched. She instinctively glanced at Calvin, only to realize that he’d gone as far away as he could get already. If a fight broke out, he’d probably be the first one out the door.
Unsurprisingly, the situation made her recall once again all of the previous incidents, with Ashton constantly defending her from everything.
For the first time ever, Roxy felt a flicker of regret. It was also the first time she remembered all of the sacrifices Ashton once made for her.
However, she quickly shut down that feeling. She would never regret divorcing Ashton. The two of them were worlds apart, and she deserved far better!

These were just a few storms she needed to weather after divorcing him.
Having regained her composure, Roxy argued, “Don’t you think you’re asking for a bit too much, gentleman? Summit Lounge doesn’t even make 15 million dollars in profit each month. You’d better not back me into a corner!”
“That’s your business, Ms. Sloan. Of course, you can choose to shut doors instead. It’s not a must for you to keep Summit Lounge up and running,” Nathan remarked with a chuckle.
“Are you saying there’s no room for negotiation at all?” Roxy questioned.
“Either give us five million dollars a month each, or we’ll be dropping by Summit Lounge every day to take up some of your time, Ms. Sloan.”
Roxy’s gaze turned cold. She went to a corner and, after some hesitation, made a call. Once the call connected, she greeted respectfully, “Hello, Mr. Chase Senior.”
“Oh, it’s you, Roxy. What brings you to call an old man like me today? How’s Celia doing? I miss that little girl terribly!” Fergus‘ cheerful voice came through the phone.
“Celia misses you very much, too, Mr. Chase Senior. I’ll bring her over for a visit someday.”
“Sure. I’d like that very much!”
Roxy eventually said, “Mr. Chase Senior, could I… trouble you for a favor?”
Fergus me.”
