Chapter 927
Those present looked differently at Queenie. Those familiar with her were filled with excitement and worship, while those who didn’t know her saw only an insolent and disrespectful woman.
“Queenie!” Rose sprang to her feet as the smile on her face from before completely vanished, leaving only a look of deep worry as her fists involuntarily clenched tight.
Wanda’s expression immediately brightened. She was part of the Curios Chamber, so she naturally recognized who Queenie was.
“Fantastic!” Wanda dabbed at the sweat on her forehead. She firmly believed that with time, Ashton would be beyond anyone’s control in this world.
Julia cocked her brow and muttered under her breath, “Is it possible he’s just not meant to die yet?” “I’m at your service, head of the Legion!”
Neil, overcome with joy, forced himself to stand despite the intense pain and saluted Queenie.
“You think I’m the head of the Legion, huh?” Queenie shot Neil a glance and scoffed.
“Did that old bastard predict I would show up? Did he set a trap for me? How was he so sure I would consent to leading the Legion for three years? Has he forgotten how my father died? What qualifications does he have to ask this of me?
“You guys know that the Legion is in debt to my father and me. We owe the Legion nothing!”
Upon sensing Queenie’s suppressed fury, Neil stated solemnly, “Mr. Clarkson Senior has previously left me an instruction, Ms. Nolan. He stated he would take full responsibility for his crimes. He asked that you look upon our shared history and protect the Legion’s last remaining spark–its future.”
Queenie fell into silence, her gaze landing on Lawrence next to Kayla, barely alive in his wheelchair. She looked at him with a look of profound resentment while snarling, “It is truly a fitting retribution for him to become a mere shell of a man now!”
“You have no right to talk about my grandfather like that!” Kayla snapped, her gaze locking with Queenie’s.
“Did you know that your grandfather killed my father and robbed me of a complete childhood? He stole the honor and the rank that were rightfully my father’s. If my father were alive, that old bastard would
never have been the head of the Legion, acting so high and mighty!
“Without my father, the Legion would have long been wiped out! I’ll say whatever I want about Lawrence, as this is exactly what he deserves!” Queenie snarled, letting out her pent–up rage.
Kayla was furious and tried to charge forward, only to be stopped by Neil, who held her down and shook his head. “You can’t act rashly, Ms. Clarkson. Ms. Nolan isn’t our enemy!”
Neil then took a deep breath and bowed respectfully to Queenie. “Please defend the honor of the Legion, Ms. Nolan. Shane, without any evidence, arbitrarily seized Mr. Gray and injured the rest of the

legionnaires. He should be executed according to the law!”
Neil had no intention of getting entangled in the feud between Queenie and Lawrence. Lawrence had explained before arriving at Terminus Cliff that once he died, Queenie’s resentment ought to dissipate, and she would eventually step in to save the Legion.
He had arranged for her to be Ashton’s benefactor. Otherwise, without such a safety net, Ashton would have struggled to survive against transcendent forces and ancient martial arts families.
