“Steven, don’t push your luck!” Aaron snapped.

Steven snorted and replied, “Still as defiant as ever. Fine. Don’t blame me for what happens next.”

His eyes locked onto Aaron. Then, he shot forward like a released arrow, closing the distance before Aaron could react.

A sharp chill ran through Aaron’s body. He channeled all his strength into defense, his semi–divine realm aura wrapping tightly around his body.

Steven slammed into him like a charging tank. Aaron’s defenses shattered on contact, and he took the blow head- on. His body flew backward and crashed into the edge of the lightning barrier. Blood spilled from the corners of his mouth, and fear flashed in his eyes.

He hadn’t expected the gap between them to be this wide. The difference between the semi–divine realm and the divine realm was absolute.

“This is what happens when you go against me,” Steven said.

He turned to Maddox, who had already begun to tremble, and stepped forward.

“Mr. Leighton, a wise man knows when to yield. Kneel and submit, and you’ll still run Apex Martial Academy and control your forces. The only difference is that you answer to me. Other than that, nothing changes. You’ll stand below me and above everyone else.”

Maddox’s fists clenched. He glanced at Aaron, who had been taken down with a single blow. After a brief internal struggle, he let out a long sigh. His knees bent, and he dropped to the ground in front of Steven.

“I submit.”

Steven threw his head back and laughed.

“Good!”

He looked down at the kneeling Maddox, clearly pleased, and burst into laughter.
