Ashton couldn’t simply look the other way while Scarlett was being mistreated since Kevin had always treated him well.
“W–What did you just say?” Raymond growled as he wiped the wine off his face, his features hardening into a mask of rage.
He glared at Ashton with murderous intent and tightened his fists, yelling, “You must have a death wish! Get in here!”
Raymond’s roar brought a group of thugs to rush into the private room, forming a tight circle around Ashton just as Raymond had commanded.
Raymond rose to his feet and gave Zeke a respectful nod. “I’m sorry for the interruption, but please bear with me while I settle this private score here, Mr. Zapata.”
Zeke exclaimed, “It’s no problem at all. We’ll get back to our drinks once you’ve settled everything!”
Upon hearing that, Raymond felt a weight lift off his chest. He knew he was free to act with Zeke staying out of it. He was determined that tonight, nothing would stand in the way of him making Ashton suffer for his arrogance.
Raymond directed his gaze toward Sully and said, “I have some scores to settle here, Mr. Larsen. Do you intend to stand up for him? If you choose to support him, then we are officially enemies!”
“I’ve never seen this guy before in my life, Mr. Weaver! You can do whatever you want with him. I won’t stand in your way!” Sully blurted out, distancing himself from Ashton as fast as possible. He had no desire to be dragged into this mess and inwardly cursed Ashton without restraint.
Carol’s expression faltered. “Ashton is still my cousin, Sully-”
“You’d better shut your mouth this instant! Do you want to end up dead, too? Raymond is a dangerous man with a lot of blood on his hands. He’s the money behind the Apex Martial Academy and has a close relationship with the Leighton family!
“If we cross him, we’re dead men walking. No amount of luck can save us,” Sully snapped.
Carol’s face turned deathly pale, but she eventually lowered her head and murmured, “I

“It’s all my fault, so please don’t take it out on Ashton. He only acted out because he was worried about me. I’ll make it up to you with a toast, Mr. Weaver,” Scarlett pleaded, her voice trembling with panic.
Ashton caught Scarlett’s arm before she could offer the drink, pulling her firmly behind him. He then looked at her with a reassuring smile and said, “I’m going to make sure you live a life of wealth and power on Linton Island because of what you said, Scarlett!”
“Huh?”
Scarlett gazed at Ashton, unable to make sense of his statement. She had no way of knowing then that this very night would serve as the turning point for the rest of her life, many years later.
“I’ll consider letting you go if you crawl through my legs and bark like a stray. Otherwise, you won’t live to

see the morning!” Raymond growled. He hadn’t endured such humiliation in a very long time.
Ashton shook his head. “You’re refusing to break your own fingers and beg Scarlett for forgiveness, huh? I’ll just have to take matters into my own hands, then!”
Ashton’s eyes gleamed with a dangerous chill as he strode toward Raymond.
“Get him!” Raymond bellowed, his eyes wide with murderous rage.
In the blink of an eye, the men surrounding Ashton lunged at him, their killing intent strikingly palpable. Their every strike was deadly, targeting Ashton’s vital points with precision. These men weren’t just street thugs–they were bloodstained fugitives, seasoned in killing.
Yet, to the astonishment of the onlookers, Ashton’s spiritual energy flared up before the attackers could make contact. He formed a localized gale that blasted outward, throwing the men back and knocking them out cold.
