“I-I…” Scarlett stammered after hearing Sully’s heartless remark. She stood there in silence, her lips trembling with suppressed emotion and indignation.

“You’d better convince Scarlett right now, Carol. Otherwise, if Mr. Weaver loses his temper, we’re the ones who’ll suffer the consequences!” Sully warned, his face clouding over with a threatening look.

Carol furrowed her brow deeply but eventually caught hold of Scarlett. “I’m begging you, Scarlett. Have a drink with Mr. Weaver and keep him company for a while, and this will all be behind us.”

Scarlett’s eyes welled up with unshed tears, her humiliation reaching its peak. She had been the victim, and yet she was forced to apologize to Raymond. She found the entire situation completely unjust.

“You should take a seat right here, Ms. Lowe!” Raymond called out. He sprawled across the couch, his potbelly protruding as he crossed his legs, his face twisted into a lecherous grin.

Those present watched the exchange with knowing grins. There were even some who gave Raymond the thumbs-up and laughed amongst themselves at Scarlett’s expense.

Scarlett began to tremble as she realized she couldn’t get past Sully and Carol. She felt exposed and vulnerable while Raymond ogled her, his gaze lingering on her body in a way that made her feel utterly revolted.

She felt utterly helpless at that moment. She took a shaky breath and reached for the glass, her heart aching as tears streamed down her face. She was backed into a corner, knowing any one of them could ruin her.

She couldn’t help but wonder if this was really what it cost to join the upper echelons. She never would have followed Carol to Supreme Club if she had realized the stakes.

“You don’t have to drink if you don’t want to!”

Ashton slowly opened his eyes just as Scarlett reached her breaking point. He then pressed the glass down and flashed her a faint smile.

Scarlett trembled slightly. She felt a flicker of warmth return to her frozen limbs the moment she met Ashton’s unwavering, commanding gaze.

“I’ll get you out of here, but before that, I need to make this piece of trash pay for what he did!” Ashton grabbed the glass from the table and flung the drink straight at Raymond’s bloated features, causing it to spray in every direction.

Those present were stunned by the abrupt outburst. They hadn’t expected that anyone would dare act against Raymond right

there in the private room.

“Holy shit! That guy’s gone mad!”

Some widened their eyes and sat up straight.

“Oh, this is going to be good!”

Those who were rich or powerful all grew intrigued, their attention gradually settling on Ashton like spectators at a performance.

Zeke, the foremost scion of Linton Island, watched Ashton closely as well, a chill flickering in his gaze.

“Do you have a fucking death wish?”

Sully panicked as he saw Raymond’s face soaked with wine. He dragged Carol back, away from Ashton, and yelled, “You’d better grovel before Mr. Weaver and apologize to him this instant! Do you have any idea what Mr. Weaver is capable of?

“He could have you killed by morning with a single sentence! He’s a part-owner of Supreme Club! You’d better not drag us down with you if you want to throw your life away!”
