Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 152

Jace’s tricks and shamelessness weren’t nearly as easy to deal with as Conrad had imagined.

“Thank you for your concern, Mr. Sullivan,” Wiona said. “But I can handle things myself.”

Conrad just gave a quiet reply, his face unreadable. Then, out of nowhere, he said, “Just think of it as being for the two babies you’re carrying.”

Wiona froze. A chill ran down her spine.

Why was he bringing up the babies now? Since when did he care about them? He had always acted like Alice’s illness was the only thing that mattered. Was there something he wasn’t telling her?

Conrad’s gaze lingered on her, searching her face for something. Still, even though Wiona felt like she was coming apart inside, she forced a calm smile, pretending nothing was wrong.

If she really didn’t know the truth about the babies, Conrad wondered, how was he supposed to tell her?

After Conrad left, Wiona barely slept. The whole night, she was trapped in a nightmare.

In her dream, Conrad sat above her in a shadowy throne, his face hidden. He ordered people to drag her forward and made her kneel, her pregnant belly so obvious and her appearance a mess.

“I heard you secretly carried my children,” he said.

Wiona tried to explain, her voice trembling. “I didn’t mean for this to happen. The doctor used your sample by mistake… Mr. Sullivan, please, I’m begging you, let me keep them. I’ll leave with the babies, we’ll disappear forever, you’ll never see us again. Please, don’t take them from me.”

Conrad’s answer was ice-cold. “You know my bloodline is the Sullivan Group’s legacy. They can’t be children with questionable origins. They can’t be born with a cloud hanging over them. And they absolutely can’t grow up out in the world, pointed at and gossiped about. Wiona, you brought this on yourself.”

With a wave, he signaled for her to be dragged away.

Her stomach was huge, almost at term, but they still forced her to take the abortion pills.

The Sullivan family would never allow children to be born with that kind of reputation, so even with her due date so close, they made her deliver two lifeless babies.

She saw them, their tiny bodies motionless on a cold metal tray, their skin bruised and purple, umbilical cords and placenta still attached. Their little hands and feet never moved, their eyes tightly shut, like they were sleeping forever. They never even opened their eyes before they were gone.

The pain and despair in the dream were unbearable. Wiona screamed herself awake. “No—!”

She shot upright, soaked in sweat, her heart pounding. The nightmare felt so real, every detail burned into her mind. Even fully awake, she couldn’t shake the hopeless pain. She pressed her hand to her barely noticeable bump, and the tears started falling before she could stop them.

Forgiven him? Not even close. Wiona just stared at him with a cold smirk, keeping silent. She figured this was her best shot at getting out of this mess and finally finding out what was really happening with the Salisbury family.

Right now, she must have looked a sight: one hand wrapped up like a mummy, her neck bruised and swollen, her body pale and sweaty from the nightmare. There was a kind of broken beauty in her fragile state, like a doll that had been through too much.

Something in Jace’s eyes flickered. He couldn’t help himself. He reached for her again.

Wiona slapped him a second time, just as hard.

“Sorry, I’m still not done being mad,” she said, flexing her wrist. It felt good, just for a moment.

Jace’s head turned with the blow. Now both cheeks were marked with perfect, red fingerprints, making his handsome face look almost comical.

He didn’t get angry, though, not like she expected. Instead, he gently held her hand.

“Feel better now?”

Wiona just looked at him, suddenly curious. If he wasn’t angry, what was he really after? What game was he playing this time?
