Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 165

Wiona’s jaw nearly hit the floor. She couldn’t believe how gutsy Taylor was. If anyone from the Salisbury family walked in right now, he’d be caught in the act, no question.

But Taylor moved fast. First, he locked the door again. Then he grabbed a clean cloth and wiped up every bit of disinfectant from the floor, making sure he didn’t poison himself any further. When he finished, he stopped to catch his breath, leaning against the wall for a moment.

Only then did he go back to Grandma Grace’s bedside. He stared down at her, the anger plain in his eyes. The woman lying there looked so fragile, like she might crumble if you breathed too hard, but Taylor’s hatred seemed to fill the whole room.

He spat on the floor. “You old bitch, this is all your fault,” he hissed. “I wouldn’t be in this mess if it weren’t for you. You’re just lying here while my painting gets sold off. What, you think you can just walk away from all of it and leave me to take the fall? Not a chance.”

His face twisted as he spoke, and his hand shook when he pulled a small knife from his pocket.

Wiona went rigid, her eyes wide. “What’s he doing?” she whispered.

Conrad didn’t hesitate. “Relax. He’s not going to kill anyone. If he did, he’d be sealing his own fate. Taylor still wants a way out.”

Taylor proved him right. He didn’t try to hurt Grandma Grace, not really. He just grabbed her hand, made a quick cut on her finger, and filled a small tube with her blood. He let her hand drop, not even glancing at the wound.

Wiona had no idea what he was up to. Why take her blood? She shot a look at Conrad, who watched the scene even more intently than she did. Whatever Taylor was planning, Conrad had clearly noticed it too.

Taylor slipped the vial into his pocket, the bloody knife still in his hand. Right then, Grandma Grace, who’d been completely out of it, started to wake up. She opened her eyes, saw someone in a janitor’s mask standing over her with a knife, and Jean lying motionless on the floor. She screamed, her voice shrill with panic. “Help! Somebody, help me!”

Taylor’s expression changed in an instant. He grabbed a pillow and pressed it over her face.

He was shaking now, his fear and anger mixing together. “What’s your game, old bitch? You want me to be the one who takes the blame, while you walk away clean? Not happening. I’ve got my own way out now. Just watch. You’re the one who’ll end up disgraced, with nothing left but a ruined reputation.”

He turned to leave, not looking back.

Grandma Grace was completely lost, but she refused to let him go. “No, wait, that painting… I destroyed it! I saw it burn to ashes. How could it have ended up with the Sullivan Group? There must be some mistake.”

Even after just waking up, Grandma Grace caught on to the situation fast. She might have been old, but she wasn’t stupid. She grabbed Taylor’s sleeve and held on tight. “Tell me the truth. What happened to the painting? Taylor, this can’t come out. I can’t be exposed!”

Taylor wrenched himself free, cold and determined, and sprinted for the door.
