Wiona’s calm voice told Tina everything she needed to know. Something was definitely going on between Wiona and Jace, but Tina knew better than to pry.
“Don’t worry,” Tina said lightly. “I made it clear that the piece isn’t for sale, and Vivian already picked it up herself.”
“He was pretty disappointed, but he still put down a five million deposit. He wants you to come out of retirement to design a special jewelry set for him. He even said price isn’t an issue, as long as you agree.”
Wiona never minded making money, especially when it was Jace’s. The more, the better.
“Tell him if he’s serious, he can get ready to spend fifty million. I’ll design him a diamond set that’s truly one of a kind.
“We’ll split it, half and half,” she added.
Tina couldn’t help but laugh with excitement. “Deal. I’ll see you soon.”
After handing over the piece to Tina, Wiona made a stop at the real estate office. She managed to sell her villa without a hitch. It was in a prime location, so the payout was huge.
She put all the money into a trust for her unborn twins. Wiona was almost certain that when she eventually divorced Jace, she wouldn’t get a cent from the Salisbury family. That meant every little bit she could save now mattered. She had to plan for herself and her babies.
The only reason she could sell the house so easily was because the Salisbury family had given it to her as a wedding gift. The deed had been in her name for ages, and while she was still married, she had the right to do whatever she wanted with it.
That night, Jace stumbled back to the family home, drunk enough that someone had to help him to his room.
“Wiona… Wiona, I’m home…” He flopped onto the bed, groaning as he tugged at his collar. He looked at the maid who had followed him in. “Ask her to make me some hangover soup.”
“Wiona’s soup is always the best…”
The maid answered politely, “Sir, Mrs. Salisbury hasn’t come back yet.”
Jace sat up, rubbing his aching head. “She hasn’t? What do you mean she hasn’t come back? She’s not home?”
“That’s right, sir. Mrs. Salisbury said she’d move back before the old lady’s birthday celebration.”
It finally hit Jace that Wiona hadn’t replied to his text from the night before.
“Hmph, I’ve spoiled her too much. Now she’s ignoring my messages. She’s even learning how to be petty while pregnant.”
He reached for his phone, ready to call her, but before he could dial, Kellen’s name flashed on the screen.
“Jace, I just slipped in the shower… I can’t get up, can you come over? It really hurts…”
Meanwhile, Alona was fuming when she heard her son had left just to go see Kellen again.
“He’s completely under that bitch’s spell. I can’t control him anymore, and I’m worried he’ll just let her get too comfortable. Even if we manage to get rid of Wiona, Kellen’s not going to be easy to deal with.”
Bianca just rolled her eyes. “Mom, you’re overthinking it. Let them fight each other. If my brother ends up hating both of them, that would be perfect.”
Alona’s eyes lit up. “Bianca, you’re getting smarter.”
Bianca blinked, a little confused. Wasn’t she always smart?
In no time at all, Grandma Grace’s birthday rolled around. Even though it might be her last, the Salisbury family respected her wishes and kept it small. Only close friends and family were invited, and the celebration was held at Rosewood Garden, Grandma Grace’s favorite spot.
About thirty or forty relatives filled the garden, making the place lively and warm.
Wiona waited for Jace by the entrance. Grandma Grace had called her personally, asking her and Jace to attend together. She didn’t want the family to be a joke at what could be her final birthday.
Wiona couldn’t say no to that. She wore a loose dress that hid her baby bump, her long hair pinned up, and earrings glinting at her ears. On her left wrist was the heirloom bracelet Grandma Grace had given her, and she wore the lowest heels she could find.
She looked effortlessly elegant and so stunning that nobody could look away.
