Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 222

Conrad stayed quiet, but Dr. Rodman could feel sweat dripping down his face.

Seriously, what was going on between those two? Mr. Sullivan was clearly looking out for Ms. Morgan, but the way they spoke to each other was so formal. Had Mr. Sullivan ever been seen with a lady before? As far as Dr. Rodman knew, Ms. Morgan was the only one. Even though she was married, he couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something more between them. Thank goodness he’d had the good sense to be friendly and get her number back then, just in case. Now, seeing how things were playing out, it looked like that little gamble was paying off. If he hadn’t, he wouldn’t have this chance to do Mr. Sullivan a favor today.

Right as he was thinking this, Conrad spoke up. “You can set up a remote video in the operating room. I’ll assist you from here.”

Dr. Rodman almost teared up from relief.

“Really?”

“Oh, Mr. Sullivan, this is truly the chance of a lifetime.”

“If anyone finds out, they’ll never hear the end of my bragging.”

“Alright, it’s settled!”

He hung up, feeling on top of the world. But as soon as he turned around to face everyone else, who were all watching with anxious and suspicious looks, his smile faded. He’d almost forgotten how serious this was.

Dr. Rodman handed the phone back to Wiona, both hands trembling a little. “Ms. Morgan, please don’t worry. Mr. Sullivan gave his instructions. For Mr. Kutz’s surgery, I’m feeling about sixty percent confident now.”

“But even though the chances are better, you all still need to be prepared for the possibility of bad news.”

“Everyone, just wait for my update.”

With that, Dr. Rodman turned and walked quickly back into the operating room.

As the doors closed behind him, everyone felt a wave of anxiety rise again.

Summer’s knees nearly buckled. She looked around for Wiona, only to see her already heading toward the elevators.

Summer hurried after her. “Wiona, wait!”

She caught up and grabbed Wiona’s arm, words tumbling out—thanks, apologies, everything at once. “Wiona, thank you. Really, thank you so much.”

“How did he end up falling like that?”

Ms. Morden pushed her glasses up and sighed. “Honestly, I’m not entirely sure how it all happened.”

“We were all at a gathering at the conservatory. I was invited, too. During dinner, someone mentioned those jewel pieces you designed recently, and Cassian said he was proud that you hadn’t forgotten your craft. Then Bronwen suddenly stood up and called him out into the hallway. They started arguing, I don’t know about what, but it sounded pretty heated and your name came up a lot. When the rest of us heard the noise and rushed out, Cassian’s face had totally changed. He looked like he was about to collapse, wobbled, and then just… fell out the window.”

Summer started shaking. “It was Bronwen?”

Ms. Morden shook her head quickly. “No, no, we all saw it clearly. Bronwen didn’t touch your father. They were at least ten feet apart. It looked like Bronwen was already leaving. She only turned back when she heard your father scream, and she even reached out to try to grab him… but it was too late.”

Wiona frowned, confused. “How could he just suddenly lose his balance and fall? That sounds so weird.”

Ms. Morden agreed. “I think it’s strange, too. I really can’t explain it.”

Wiona pressed further. “So besides my mentor and Bronwen, was there anyone else near the window at the time?”
