Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 224

After everyone had left, Summer seemed lost in thought for a moment before blurting out, “You know, Dad used to say that Bronwen was really hard on you back in the day.” She paused, frowning. “But whenever I tried to ask more, he’d just shut down and refuse to talk about it. After seeing Bronwen today, her attitude toward you really does seem off.”

She looked at Wiona, searching her face for answers. “I remember back then, Dad and Bronwen were always fighting over your free time, both trying so hard to be your number one. Then, out of nowhere, Bronwen just changed. She left everything behind and took her whole family overseas. Isn’t that kind of weird?”

Wiona didn’t answer right away. She just shook her head, feeling just as puzzled as Summer. She honestly had no idea what had happened between them.

Cassian’s surgery dragged on for seven hours. During that time, Wiona’s back started to ache, so she slipped out to her car for a short break. But she couldn’t rest for long. She soon came back to sit with Summer, keeping her company.

Summer ended up signing three separate critical condition notices. Just when it seemed like she couldn’t take it anymore, the operating room doors finally opened.

Wiona and the others jumped to their feet and hurried over.

Dr. Rodman came out, looking serious. “The surgery went well, but since the patient is older and his injuries are severe, we can’t say when he’ll wake up.”

They managed to save his life, but the news was still grim. Cassian was rushed straight to the ICU, and no one even got to see him.

After leaving the hospital and saying goodbye to Summer, Wiona dragged herself home, completely worn out.

The next morning, she woke up to breaking news. Daniel Salisbury, chairman of Salisbury Corporation, had suffered a sudden heart attack and was rushed to the hospital. Salisbury Corporation’s stock price had crashed. Jace, the company’s president, had just announced they were pulling the company from the market. It had only been listed for a little over a month, and now it was making a messy, hasty exit. Clearly, the company had been in trouble for a while and just couldn’t hold on any longer.

With the company falling apart, the entire Salisbury family was unraveling, too.

Wiona felt a little lighter after reading the news. The more trouble the Salisburys were in, the easier it would be for her to get her divorce.

But Wiona had no interest in kicking them while they were down. She simply handed Grandma Grace a bag. “Some things should go back to their rightful owner,” she said quietly. “And I’d like to get my own things back too. I mean Cassian’s tea set. Jace took it from me, so I think it’s only fair that I get it back, right?”

She stepped back and waited as Grandma Grace opened the bag, looking confused. When she saw the bracelet and property deed inside, her face went pale.

“Wiona, are you really going through with this? Are you really going to be so cold?”

“Haven’t I been good to you? I was willing to give you and your children everything the Salisbury family has. Maybe I used some tricks to get you to marry Jace, but it was all because I liked you.”

“Why do you have to take things this far?”

“Are you trying to break my heart?”
