Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 241

The knife hovered, barely an inch away from cutting through Wiona’s clothes, cold and dangerous. Even with all her bravado, a wave of despair crashed over her. Internally, she cursed her luck. Seriously, could things get any worse? It felt like every road she took just led her straight into a dead end.

But these men weren’t from the Sullivan family. Conrad, for all his flaws, would never use such brutal methods, even if he wanted to get rid of her babies. Besides, they’d mentioned watching her for days. Who on earth would be more desperate to catch her than Conrad?

“Who are you?” Wiona demanded, her voice sharp.

One of the men shoved her, his tone icy. “You’ll find out soon enough. Move!”

They forced her into a black sedan, yanked a hood over her head, and tied her hands tight. Darkness swallowed her whole. Wiona realized she was truly on her own. She’d managed to escape one nightmare only to tumble right into another.

After what felt like forever, the car finally rolled to a stop. Someone dragged her out, pushing and pulling her along a jagged path. She felt the crunch of broken stones under her feet, each step threatening to trip her. The air felt wide and empty. They must have left the city behind. Somewhere nearby, she could hear the rumble of big trucks and, now and then, the distant thunder of a passing train.

“Keep moving.”

They shoved her up a set of stairs. Blind and off balance, she stumbled and fell hard. Instinct kicked in, and she twisted just in time, protecting her belly from the impact. Her heart hammered with panic and leftover fear.

Furious, Wiona turned her head, glaring over her shoulder. “I don’t care who you are. If anything happens to my babies, I swear I’ll make every last one of you pay.”

The only reply was a cold, mocking laugh. Clearly, none of them took her seriously.

She narrowed her eyes. “How many lives do you have to gamble with? I might be in your hands right now, but who gets to lives and who ends up dead is still up in the air.”

With that, she forced herself back onto her feet. The laughter faded, replaced by a tense silence, as if her words had finally made them second-guess themselves.

They led her up three more flights of stairs. At the top, someone yanked the hood off her head.

“Wiona?” A frail, familiar voice called out.

Wiona didn’t say another word. She just stared them down, her eyes cold and poisonous. The intensity of her stare actually made a couple of them uneasy.

One of the men finally muttered, “Just leave it. The boss said grab her, not touch her. If anything happens to her and that guy finds out, we’re screwed.”

The group drifted away, still grumbling. Wiona’s suspicion about Sam being the mastermind only deepened. He was still wary after Conrad had taken her away from Esctsay before.

Grandma Grace tried to speak, but Wiona simply shook her head. “Rest. You need your strength.”

She was exhausted. The journey back had drained her, and she hadn’t even gotten a chance to rest before being dragged to this dump. Every muscle in her body ached, but at least her stomach felt okay. If she’d felt anything wrong there, she knew she’d be panicking.

Glancing around, she saw they were in some abandoned building, the wind slicing through the open walls and making everything freezing cold. The guards had rigged up a space heater for themselves, but Wiona and Grandma Grace had nothing but each other for warmth. She could feel the old lady growing weaker with every passing minute.
