Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 29

Alona’s voice trembled. “Mom, what are you doing?

“Jace is almost thirty. Can’t you let him keep some dignity?”

Grandma Grace slapped her too. “So what?”

Alona stared in disbelief.

Was this really happening? She was the lady of the Salisbury family, Daniel’s wife. Why did this old woman always have to treat her like this?

Alona snapped, her voice rising. “Why are you hitting me!”

Grandma Grace let out a dry laugh and didn’t bother arguing.

She looked at Daniel, who was standing there with a headache written all over his face.

“I know I don’t have much time left.

“So what now? No one even cares about me anymore?

“Let me remind you all. I may not be well educated, but your father and I built this family from nothing. Every one of these relatives owes what they have to us, all these years.

“Daniel, have I ever let Salisbury Corporation down?

“Now your wife says I’m being disrespectful to your son.

“If I really wanted to embarrass him, I would have made him kneel right there in Rosewood Garden.

“I’m his grandmother. Don’t I have the right to punish someone who’s so cold-hearted and ungrateful?

Daniel’s voice was heavy with pain.

“Mom, please don’t say that.

“Jace, apologize to your grandmother right now.

“How could you talk back to your grandmother in front of all those people, just for a secretary? Do you even respect your elders?

“And you, Alona. You’ve spoiled him for years. That’s why he’s grown up so arrogant, acting like he’s better than everyone.”

“Apologize to your mother.”

Jace said sorry.

Alona did the same.

Neither of them dared to go against Daniel.

Daniel, knowing his mother might not have many months left, could only try to keep her calm.

Alona didn’t dare show the humiliation burning inside her. All she could do was quietly add another grudge to her heart.

Grandma Grace had seen right through her daughter-in-law years ago.

She just ignored her.

Instead, she looked at Jace, her voice softer. “I know you don’t want to listen to me anymore.

“But just remember this.

Alona clung to her son, crying harder. “If it weren’t for you and Bianca, I wouldn’t have lasted a single day in this house.

“Jace, she’d rather give that heirloom bracelet to your wife than to me. How do you think that makes me feel?

“And Wiona wore it tonight, showing off in front of everyone. What do all our relatives think of me?

“She’s dying, so why does she have to make such a scene?

“She comes home and insults me again. How am I supposed to keep being respectful to her?

“It’s one thing for her to insult me, but you’re the future head of this family. She humiliated you too. I just can’t stand it.”

Jace tried to soothe her. “Mom, Grandma’s still our elder. Just be patient for a few more months. Once it’s over, I’ll make things right for you, I promise.”

Alona stopped crying for a moment.

She looked up at her son, hope flickering in her eyes. “Really?”

“Jace, I trust you.”

With her son on her side, some of her anger faded.

The bracelet, the tea set, even that Flowing Light collection from tonight and everything valuable in that old woman’s safe, she was determined to have it all.

Meanwhile, before Grandma Grace even made it back to her villa in the garden, someone came to tell her what happened in the main house.

Jean was fuming. “They spoke ill of you the second you left.

“Ma’am, they don’t respect you at all anymore.”
