Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 318

“I bet it won’t be long before she starts acting more and more like everyone else…”

Wiona still couldn’t figure out why she was so special to Alice. Was it because she treated Alice like a real friend? Or maybe it was the paintings she made for her? Maybe that’s why Alice seemed so attached, so willing to listen.

Wiona let the questions drift away. There were more important things happening now. The beef stew was already set up on the lawn in front of the main house.

Phil, the new head butler, was just as efficient as Libby ever was. He got a huge canopy up in no time. Four heaters glowed in each corner, warming the chilly air. Fairy lights were strung all around, making everything feel cozy and magical. Tables were brought out, one after another, and soon the food started arriving too.

For safety, there was no open flame. The delicious smell drifted through the whole front yard. By the time Conrad showed up in his casual clothes, Wiona and Alice were already in their seats, waiting like two little kids who couldn’t wait for dinner.

As soon as Conrad came over, Alice piped up, “You’re finally here! Can we eat now? Is it time?”

She’d never had beef stew before, and her excitement was off the charts. Remy and Phil stood behind her, watching closely, just in case she got carried away and something happened.

Wiona rubbed her hands together and chimed in, “Can we start now?”

Conrad looked at the two of them, their eyes shining with anticipation, and took his seat across from Wiona.

“My bad for being late,” he said, smiling. “Go ahead, you two little food monsters.”

Alice almost jumped out of her seat. “Yay!” She grabbed her fork and dove for the pot, which made one of the maids rush over with a plate and a ladle, ready to help.

Alice was clumsy, but she listened now. Whenever someone said to be careful, she sat back and waited for the maid to fish out the food for her before digging in. She looked like a tiny foodie, laser-focused on her meal.

Wiona didn’t want any help from the maids. She just went for what she wanted.

When Conrad saw Wiona grabbing food for herself, he waved off the maid who tried to serve him and did the same. He even started choosing the same things Wiona did. Sometimes their forks knocked into each other in the pot, and Wiona would snatch the food away quickly, like she was afraid he’d get it first.

Conrad couldn’t help but smile at her. Was she actually being possessive over food with him?

Somehow, this dinner seemed to bring them a little closer, even though the conversation wasn’t anything special. Just talking about the beef stew was enough to keep Conrad interested. And the food really was good. Having beef stew in the snow felt extra special.

Conrad moved fast, wrapping his arm around Wiona’s waist and pulling her close to keep her safe.

He looked down at her, her face pale with fright, and gently flicked her forehead. “Alice has plenty of people watching her.”

“You need to take care of yourself. And the babies.”

He took her gloved hand, holding it firmly in his, then kept walking.

Wiona stared down at their hands, her heart skipping a beat. Why was he holding her hand? She hadn’t promised him anything yet, had she?

She tried to pull away, flustered, but Conrad just held on tighter and tucked her whole hand into his coat pocket.

“Wiona. Have you made up your mind about marrying me?”
