“No, it’s fine,” Wiona said, her voice soft but firm. “Just a little sniff is enough for me right now.”
Conrad grinned. “That’s not enough. How could that ever be enough? I’m all yours now, Wiona. You can sniff me whenever you want. But don’t you think it’s my turn now? I’ve missed you and I need a little something, too.”
Before Wiona could react, Conrad lifted her chin and kissed her, catching her completely off guard. Her eyes went wide, but he just smiled into them.
“Close your eyes,” he whispered.
Wiona did as he said, her lashes fluttering shut.
Conrad was clearly pleased she listened. He pressed another deep kiss to her lips, his voice low and teasing. “If I mess up, you’ll let me know, right?”
He closed his own eyes and focused completely on the kiss. Wiona felt the difference right away. He was so much better than before. Since when did he get this good? Did he go take a secret class or something?
Her mind drifted for only a second, but Conrad noticed right away. He tugged gently on her earlobe, pulling her focus back. “Hey, babe, stay with me.”
Wiona was out of breath, her cheeks flushed. She just had to ask, “How did you suddenly get so good at this? Now I feel like a total newbie.”
He slipped a hand behind her head and kissed her again, even deeper.
“Shh… Don’t ruin the mood. You want to know? I’ll tell you later.”
By the time the kiss finally ended, Wiona was left breathless, her lips tingling. Conrad finally let her go as they pulled up to their house. The whole ride had felt like one long lesson. He got to practice, and she got… seriously flustered.
Her lips were definitely a little swollen now. Meanwhile, Conrad looked like he never wanted to stop.
“So,” he said, totally shameless, “did I do a good job? Satisfied?”
Wiona didn’t even want to answer him.
Conrad sighed dramatically. “Guess I still need more practice. Wiona isn’t impressed.”
He leaned in again, and this time, even though Wiona loved his scent, she pulled back a little, almost scared.
“It was good, okay? Really good. Actually, fantastic.” She blurted it out, desperate for a break. “You totally swept me off my feet. I feel like I just discovered a whole new world of kissing. Conrad, I’m very satisfied with your skills. So, can you tell me how you got so good? Because, honestly, I kind of want to learn too.”
Wiona watched as Conrad’s whole vibe changed. The air around him turned cold just from hearing that name. He clearly wasn’t thrilled about this family member showing up, and honestly, Wiona had never even heard of this so-called uncle of his.
Conrad strode into the house without another word. Wiona hurried after him, but quickly whispered to Phil, “Who is Devin?”
Phil checked to make sure Conrad was out of earshot. “Devin is Mr. Sullivan’s uncle, but only about ten years older than him. He was sent away overseas when he was twelve and never came back.”
Wiona was shocked. “He’s really his uncle? So he’s been gone for twenty-five years? Why did they send him away?”
“He was sick, from what I heard,” Phil said quietly. “He’s been recovering abroad all these years. Mr. Sullivan’s grandparents and Mr. Sullivan’s late father used to visit him sometimes, but Mr. Sullivan never liked to go. Those two never got along.”
“I see,” Wiona nodded.
So Devin was basically invisible in the Sullivan family. Twenty-five years away and suddenly back? That was definitely weird.
Still, she didn’t meet Devin. Word was, he wasn’t feeling well and was resting in the guest room.
