Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 404

“Nikolai, you really are just a loyal pet now, aren’t you?” Sophie snapped. “How long have I known Conrad? And how long has she even been in the Sullivan family? I can’t believe you’re all ganging up on me.”

Nikolai’s face stayed blank, completely unfazed by her words. His voice was flat, almost robotic. “Sorry, Ms. Clements. Mr. Sullivan made it clear. Anyone considered dangerous can’t get near her. Right now, you’re on the hostile list. So you need to step back. Otherwise, you leave us no choice.”

Sophie’s face twisted with anger.

Wiona stepped in, gently moving Nikolai aside. “It’s fine. Ms. Clements is a lawyer, after all. She wouldn’t dare lay a finger on me here at the Simpson estate. Unless she’s ready to kiss her career goodbye. Isn’t that right, Ms. Clements?”

Wiona didn’t wait for an answer. She walked straight up to Sophie and slapped her, sharp and fast.

Sophie just stared, shocked, as Wiona shook out her stinging hand and spoke in a calm, almost bored voice. “But see, I’m not scared. According to you, I’m just a manipulative, calculating, fake heiress. Hopeless, useless, totally dependent on my family and whatever man I can cling to. That’s what you think of me, right? Slapping you just makes you look even more superior. The ice queen, the untouchable heroine. Isn’t that how you see yourself, Ms. Clements?”

Sophie’s hand flew to her cheek. She was furious, but instead of yelling, she flashed a cold, nasty smile. “Wiona, how dare you hit me? I’ll sue you for everything you’re worth. You’ll rot in jail, I swear.”

Wiona just shrugged, completely unfazed. She stared Sophie down, her voice dropping to a chilly whisper. “Go ahead. I’ll be waiting. Just remember to send the court papers to the Sullivan Group’s legal team. They handle all my business now.”

If Conrad wanted her to rely on him, she was happy to make that loud and clear. Especially if it meant hitting Sophie where it hurt most.

Sophie swallowed her anger, forcing herself to look just furious, nothing more. “Fine. Just perfect. I brought you here out of kindness, to meet my aunt, and this is how you act? You don’t even thank me, you hit me instead. So much for your manners, Wiona.”

She checked the time in her head, decided she’d made her point, then turned on her heel and stormed out, high heels striking the floor.

Wiona didn’t watch her leave. Instead, she spun around, her eyes narrowing as she looked back into the room. She was staring at Annette, who had barely spoken since waking up and had been completely silent through everything.

Why hadn’t Annette reacted at all?
