Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 45

“Uncle Nicholas, I... I didn’t mean to bother you.”

Nicholas let out a long sigh. “You silly girl. Are you still upset with your mentor after all these years? Even if you are, does that mean you’re going to ignore all of us old folks too?”

Wiona shook her head. “No, of course not.”

“Well, since you’re already here, come meet me at the cafe behind the exhibition hall. It’s been ages since we last saw each other.”

Wiona had no choice but to get out of the car. She lingered by the curb, letting her nerves settle. Once she felt a little calmer, she made her way back toward the gallery. She actually had some questions for Nicholas anyway. Like, why on earth was her painting hanging in his exhibition?

After she left, Conrad got the news almost immediately.

“Mr. Sullivan, Mrs. Salisbury just went to the back area of the gallery.”

Conrad hung up and looked at the painting in front of him — a tiger standing on a mountain, staring out at the deep blue sea. It wasn’t the kind of thing you’d expect from someone who spent their whole life in high society. Had he gotten it wrong? But then he thought of that woman, the one who talked about art so confidently, who clearly knew her stuff. He was sure she could paint. It couldn’t just be a coincidence. W. Wiona. Was it really just luck that their names matched up?

Remy spoke up quietly. “Mr. Sullivan, maybe it’s all just a misunderstanding. I’ve never seen a studio at Mrs. Salisbury’s house. She doesn’t even have many paintings up. She really doesn’t seem like an artist. And if she was, how could her husband not know? He spends a fortune on W’s paintings. Even he thinks W is just some gruff man.”

Conrad’s eyes narrowed. “There’s another explanation.”

Korey looked confused. “Sir?”

“Jace is clueless.”

Inside the gallery, Jace tried calling Wiona again, only to get a busy signal. He frowned and shot her a text. A giant red exclamation point popped up. She had actually blocked him. Jace gripped his phone so tightly, it almost bent in his hand.

Jace’s mood turned even darker. First Wiona’s attitude. Now this. “I want to talk to Nicholas. Now.”

Julian looked uncomfortable. “Nicholas has a guest right now. He’s not available today.”

Jace glanced at his watch. “I only need ten minutes.” He was determined to see Nicholas, no matter what. That painting was his, and the business deal would happen. He suddenly remembered Grandma Grace. The tickets had come from her. She definitely knew Nicholas.

Without another word, Jace strode off toward the back of the gallery. “I’ll find a way. I will see him.”

Wiona sat in the cafe for a few minutes, waiting. When she heard footsteps, she looked up. Seeing Nicholas, she quickly put down her book and stood up.

“Uncle Nicholas, it’s been so long.”
