Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 53

Daniel’s voice cut through the air. At once, every servant melted away, leaving the room tense and silent.

Daniel didn’t spare a glance for Alona’s uneasy expression. He looked straight at Molly.

“Molly, tell me exactly what happened.”

Molly jumped at the chance, her voice trembling with just the right amount of drama.

“Yes, sir. This morning, Mr. Jace said the west guest room was too small and dirty. He told Wiona, even though she’s pregnant, to give her master bedroom to Kellen.”

“She couldn’t refuse, or she’d be called selfish and cold.”

“But when we got to the west guest room, maybe because of the new furniture, the smell was so strong you could barely stand it. No one could sleep there.”

“Mrs. Salisbury was worried about the babies, so she set up a tent in the garden, just to get by for a couple of days. She thought she’d move into the room once the smell faded, so she didn’t want to bother anyone else.”

As Molly spoke, Alona’s expression shifted, her calm slipping away.

How could Wiona stir things up like this? What was she after? Did she suspect something? No, there was no way.

When Daniel turned his gaze on her, Alona’s heart skipped a beat. Then she forced herself to relax. If her plan worked, great. If not, she could always play innocent. No one would ever know she wanted to get rid of Wiona’s babies.

Alona gasped, her hand flying to her mouth.

“How can this be? I called myself this morning to rush the new furniture over. I told them only the best, most expensive materials would do.”

She glanced at Wiona, her voice going all soft and scolding.

“Wiona, you’re being far too sensitive. I know Jace asking you to give up your room for Kellen must have hurt, but you can’t twist this around and make Daniel think badly of Jace.”

“They’re father and son. If you cause a rift between them, can you live with that?”

Bianca piped up, quick to pile on.

“Wiona… I mean, let me just say—you’re not the Morgan heiress anymore. Why are you still acting so spoiled? Are you saying Salisbury family things aren’t good enough for you?”

“It’s just a new bed and wardrobe. How bad could it really be?”

Wiona didn’t argue. She just stood there, eyes red, swallowing her tears. She nodded, looking like she was taking it all in.

“Yes, it’s my fault for being so sensitive,” she said softly. “I really can’t handle that room.”

“Dad, please don’t worry about me. The tent is warm enough. The babies and I are fine.”

Daniel said nothing, his face dark. He stared hard at Jace, then at Alona. Both of them felt their hearts lurch.

He tightened his grip, his voice shaking.

“Wiona, do you even hear yourself? How dare you—”

Just then, George rushed out.

“Sir, madam, Mr. Salisbury wants you inside.”

Wiona pulled free from Jace, holding his gaze, her face half hidden in shadow.

“Jace, your arrogance and pride are going to ruin you one day.”

She turned and strode away, leaving Jace standing alone in the garden, his mind spinning.

Divorce? She actually said that? She was the one who schemed to marry him, so how could she even think about leaving first? Of course he’d be the one to end it, but not before he taught her a lesson she’d never forget.

She didn’t deserve to be the one to walk away.

As soon as Jace entered the house, Daniel slapped him across the face.

“Dad?” Jace was stunned. He couldn’t remember the last time his father had hit him.
