"Arthur is the only biological son of Elena, the official matriarch of the Thompson family," Mason explained. "However, he maintains a very low profile and doesn't hold much apparent power. He certainly doesn't have the same flashy reputation as Allen."
In traditional terms, Arthur would be considered the true, legitimate heir, while everyone else was essentially a common offshoot. Yet, this legitimate son had allowed an illegitimate brother to trample all over him. And now, he had just brought his own illegitimate daughter into the fold.
Wiona let out a cold laugh. "Start making contact with Arthur's other children."
Mason agreed, shifting the topic to the Thompson family's upcoming gala. "The Thompsons have booked a resort for an event a few days from now. The Meridian Resort is nestled at the base of a mountain and surrounded by a river on three sides. If they lock it down, it will essentially become an isolated island. Furthermore, it is quite far from the city center, taking at least two hours for a one-way trip."
Upon hearing the resort's name, Wiona immediately searched for it online. The details matched Mason's report perfectly. While the scenery was undeniably beautiful, the Thompsons had clearly chosen this remote location with a specific purpose in mind.
"It looks like they are fully preparing for the guests to spend the night there," Wiona noted.
Mason nodded. "Starting today, the Thompsons have barred any other tourists from entering the resort and have begun setting up for the gala."
Wiona frowned thoughtfully. "They are making such a massive spectacle and deploying their forces this early? I really want to see exactly what kind of scheme they are brewing this time."
"Should we send someone to infiltrate the venue in advance, Boss?" Mason asked.
"Stay out of this one," Wiona instructed. "My husband has his own preparations. If both of us move at the same time, we might raise unnecessary suspicion. By the way, have the other members of the Blue family received their invitations?"
Mason bowed respectfully and departed. Once he was gone, Wiona sat in the courtyard for a little while longer before getting up to play with her babies. "Kane, Derek, Mommy is here!"
Time flew by, and soon it was September 10th. There were only five days left until Wiona and Conrad's grand wedding. Back in Stonehill, Annette was busy bustling about with joyous preparations. Meanwhile, Wiona and Conrad were dressed to the nines, ready to attend the Thompson family gala.
At The Meridian Resort, security personnel in black suits and attentive staff were meticulously verifying every guest's invitation at the entrance. Each invitation allowed the bearer to bring only one companion.
Wiona and Conrad stepped out of their car, and after their identities were confirmed, the rest of the Blue family followed closely behind. Having acquired five additional invitations, the entire family had successfully gained entry. Although the security staff cast a few suspicious glances and delayed them slightly, they found nothing amiss and had no choice but to let them through.
Once inside, everyone boarded the resort's approved vehicles and headed deeper into the property. Gazing at the dazzling lights outside, Wiona turned to Conrad. "The Thompson family truly spared no expense this time. Have you figured out exactly what they are planning?"
