Divorced Dazzling and Desired novel Chapter 17

**Raindrops Kissing Silent Streets – by Aadi Sharma**
**Chapter 17**

As the mask of pretense slipped away, Renee found herself confronted with an unyielding truth that sent shivers coursing through her body. The weight of reality bore down on her like a heavy fog, suffocating and relentless.

Nearby, Jasper and Luke stood, their expressions reflecting the gravity of the moment. Luke clicked his tongue in disapproval, a long, heavy sigh escaping his lips. “I can’t help but feel for Ms. Whitley. First, she has that horrific car accident in the dead of night, and no one seemed to care a lick. Now, she nearly drowns in the ocean, and to top it off, her husband has the audacity to strike her. It’s just… heartbreaking.”

Jasper, tall and imposing, kept his hands tucked deep into his pockets, his gaze fixed on the woman slumped against the wall. His dark eyes held a storm of emotions as he furrowed his brow, contemplating the situation.

“We need to investigate what transpired today,” he commanded, his voice steady and authoritative.

“Absolutely, sir,” Luke replied with a nod, a sense of urgency igniting within him.

Even without Jasper’s directive, Luke would have taken it upon himself to dig deeper. After all, Seraph Island was a valuable asset of the Zeller family. If this incident spiraled into a criminal case, it could spell disaster for the island’s financial stability.

With a deliberate turn, Jasper made his way toward the elevator at the far end of the corridor, his tone icy as he added, “Seraph Island needs a thorough cleanup.”

“Understood,” Luke responded promptly, pulling out his phone and swiftly beginning to relay orders.

Meanwhile, Renee stepped out of the hospital, her heart heavy with a mixture of dread and determination. She made her way to the diving club to collect her belongings, each step echoing the turmoil inside her. Afterward, she headed straight to the police station to file a report, her mind racing with the details she needed to convey.

As she recounted the harrowing events to the officers, a sense of urgency filled the room. They opened a case, instructing her to await the results of their investigation. The prospect of lingering effects from her underwater ordeal gnawed at her, prompting her to return to the hospital for a comprehensive check-up.

“Physically, everything appears normal. However, your prolonged exposure to the water has resulted in a perforated eardrum. As long as there’s no inflammation, it should heal on its own. So, no need for excessive worry,” the doctor explained, his tone reassuring.

A wave of relief washed over Renee upon hearing the doctor’s words. She felt a flicker of gratitude spark within her, knowing she was fortunate to be alive—and that she owed her life to the man who had heroically pulled her from the depths of despair.

Back in her hospital ward, she settled onto the bed, feeling the cool sheets beneath her. With a deep breath, she reached for her phone and dialed her best friend, Alison.

Beep, beep, beep…

“What?!” Alison’s voice erupted with disbelief.

“You’re telling me that Adam is cheating with some skank, and she almost got you killed? That bastard! I swear to you, just wait! I’ll hop on the next flight to Seraph Island and deal with that homewrecker myself! Who does she think she is, messing with my best friend? She’s going to regret ever crossing paths with you!”

“And Adam? That son of a gun is going to get what’s coming to him!” Alison’s fury was palpable, her voice laced with indignation and protective rage.

Renee lay back against the pillows, tears continuing to slip silently down her cheeks, her heart heavy yet comforted by Alison’s fierce loyalty.

“I had him sign the divorce papers without him even knowing. Just two more weeks. In two weeks, I’ll finally be free of him,” she said, a mixture of hope and sadness threading through her words.

“Babe… what if he refuses to go through with the divorce?” Alison’s voice was tinged with concern.

“And what about your shares? You sold them for two billion. Aren’t you worried he’ll try to take your money during the divorce? I’m telling you, Renee, there’s not a single man on this planet who’s truly trustworthy.”
