Divorced My Cheating Husband, Married A Billionaire novel Chapter 125

"How is it that you can bring down the construction cost this much? Are you going cheap on materials, Mr. King?" Kyle asked while scrutinizing the project cost proposal.

"Never! I recently acquired a metal production business and partnered with a lumber and cement company. Technically, I am getting many of the materials directly from suppliers," Adrian explained. "This is what mainly brings down the cost."

"As for workers, we usually create temporary housing within the site. It initially comes out as a big investment, but long-term wise; we save on transportation, hotel expenses, and stolen construction materials," Adrian explained.

"Stolen construction materials?" Kyle asked, crossing his arms against his chest.

"Even with security guards present, thieves get in and steal construction materials. If construction workers are housed on-site, we have more eyes around," Adrian explained. "Lastly, aside from construction equipment, I invest in innovative project management. I hire the best engineers to look after the site, and they are provided with the best technology to operate the area."

"We are talking drones for monitoring, software for tracking progress and budgeting," Adrian added.

"Okay." Kyle caressed his chin. He flipped over the budget proposal again and said, "I'd like to go over this again, but I must say that I like what I have seen so far."

"This project proposal aside, I'm very curious to know why you are competing with your own company," Kyle asked.

The two were still in the same conference room, their assistants present. Adrian glanced at Engineer Philips and Clint before replying, "My father and the board of directors did not choose me to be their CEO. I was accused of leaking company information, but aside from that, they assumed that my disability equated to inability. So, I wanted to prove them wrong, and I did. They just don't know it yet."

"Tsk. Tsk. Tsk." Kyle slowly shook his head. He described, "I can see it now. It will be mind-blowing when they find out that you are the CEO of ACE Construction Firm."

"When this all goes down, invite me and Gaby," Kyle suggested. "We love a good show."

Adrian was taken aback. Nonetheless, Kyle Wright's reaction amused him. He answered, "I'd happily invite you, Kyle."

"Prepare the wine and caviar," Kyle suggested.

When Adrian initially did not get it, Kyle clarified, "Like in the movies, when you watch with popcorn, we prefer canapes with caviar and wine."

"Oh, right." Adrian chuckled. "I'll remember that."

"You know, Kenneth is having swimming lessons right now. Would you like to see how that is going?" Kyle offered.

Adrian was supposed to return to Halliport immediately to be with his wife, but he could not pass on the opportunity to establish a good connection with the Wrights. He smiled and answered, "I'd love to see the little man!"

Kyle stood from his seat and said, "Then, you are all invited for lunch later on."

Their entire party was stepped out of the conference room when Adrian said, "And Kyle, my wife's name is Riley."

"Right," Kyle answered. "Mrs. King."

"You know, when Gaby said you were bad with names, I did not think it was that bad," Adrian remarked.

"Well, Mrs. King must prove she is worthy of my memory. For now, let's be safe and call her Mrs. King," Kyle answered.

Meanwhile, back at Halliport, five armed men were inside a black van, stalking the entrance to the Mega Mall.

One man showed the photo of their target. He said, "This is Riley King, and we have orders to take her."

"It's just a short walk. I should be fine," Riley assured Max.

She noticed Max texting before driving off to the North Wing drop-off area.

Soon, they arrived at the location. Immediately, Riley saw Mr. Wesson, one of the mall workers whom she had come to know over the past few days. He had just exited the car and was walking near the mall entrance.

Riley also noticed a few familiar faces, like the young salesman at the sports apparel boutique driving his motorbike. Even the male cleaning staff at the mall had arrived at the same entrance.

She did not think much of it and thought it was a coincidence. Besides, there was a problem with the underground parking access, which probably rerouted many workers to pass through the North Wing.

"This is my stop, Max. As soon as you find a place to park the car, come up to the store," Riley instructed. She hurriedly got out of the car and walked towards the entrance. Riley was five meters away when suddenly, a black van pulled over in front of her.

Men in black overalls with ski masks over their heads emerged from the van and started grabbing Riley!

"Aah! Help!" Riley screamed. She turned to her car and called, "Max! Max, help me!"

Max left the car and ran back in her direction, but with five men as his opponents, could her driver save her? Riley earnestly feared for her life and that of her baby. Worst, she wondered if she would ever see Adrian again.

Tears rolled down her face. She pleaded as she was being dragged into the van, "Please. I'm pregnant. Please don't hurt me and my baby. I have money. I can give you money! Just please don't hurt me!"

"Ah!" The next thing Riley heard was a scream coming from one of her abductors and a series of sharp, impactful thuds.

What Riley witnessed shocked her.
