"I was wet for you," Claire suggested.
After making love in the living room, Claire and Brian bathed together. It was in the bedroom that Brian raised his concerns. He said, "Claire, I'm sorry about doubting our relationship. The stress is eating me up. But you are right. Our baby is more important than the clients that we have lost. I will figure out a way to get more clients."
"I mean, gold is gold. There will always be interested buyers. I guess I just need to expand our market," Brian said. "But aside from that, I do have a few concerns."
"What is it?" Claire asked.
"You are always calling me, texting me," Brian said. "Despite knowing how busy I am."
"It's because I am bored," Claire said.
"Exactly, so why don't you occupy yourself? How about you study? Prepare for a career after you give birth?" Brian suggested. "My friends are comparing you and Riley. I don't want you to be branded as someone who does not have a career."
Claire's eyes rounded. Brian had just indicated that she should work, but she did not want to work. She got involved with a rich man solely for that purpose. Of course, she wouldn't tell Brian that. Men liked women who had dreams for themselves.
"But, Brian," Claire caressed her stomach. "The baby. It may not be good for me."
"Okay," Brian scratched his head. "How about something light? Like a cooking class? Don't you like to cook? Halliport University offers a culinary course that will only require you to be in school for two hours at most. Then, after you graduate, we can start a cafe business."
"Really?" Claire exclaimed. "You'd do that for me?"
"Yes, and to encourage you further, I'll bring you to Halliport's alumni homecoming in two weeks. You can see the school and meet friends of mine who have succeeded in other businesses," Brian suggested.
"Alumni homecoming? Will Riley be there too?" Claire asked with concern.
They quickly had dinner together, and as they ate, Clint walked in, giving Adrian an invitation card. He said, "Halliport University wishes to invite you to the Grand Alumni Homecoming. They wanted you to represent your batch and give a speech, Sir."
Adrian accepted the invitation. He studied it briefly before asking Riley, "Does Brian attend these events?"
He never went to homecoming events. His memory of his college days was unpleasant after his accident.
Riley made a complicated face. She said, "He does. He markets with former college friends to get sales."
"Then, maybe we should market Adley too," Adrian suggested. "Let's go together... as a couple."
Riley paused and stared at Adrian with a flushed face. Going to the homecoming together would be their first public appearance as a couple, and by then, they would already be married. She said, "Okay. We will go as husband and wife."
