Adrian was stunned by his father's reaction.

It was rare for Anthony to accept his decision because marrying Riley was the opposite of what his father wanted. After all, he wanted Adrian to marry Leni Eros.

'Did my plan work? Did I manage to show him that Riley had the qualities to be my wife?' Adrian pondered, his mind filled with uncertainty. Unfortunately, he didn't have the luxury of time to dwell on these thoughts as Anthony suddenly suggested he was tired.

"Let's go home. I want to rest now. You both can eat at the house," Anthony said, referring to Tonet and Fredrick. He glanced at Abner and announced, "Father, we shall leave." As he turned his heel, he said, "Adrian, Riley. We shall go."

Anthony did not look at Adrian. It was as if his father was ashamed to have sided with him. However, whether or not it was an isolated case, Adrian saw it as an opportunity.

Adrian moved his wheelchair to chase after his father, who had already exited the ballroom. At the lobby, Adrian caught up with his father and called, his voice echoing, "Dad. Dad!"

When Anthony turned, Adrian asked, "Can I speak with you?"

Anthony urged Tonet and Fredrick to proceed without him. He approached Adrian and asked, "What is it?"

"I'm marrying Riley tomorrow, and I would love it if -" Adrian hesitated but expressed his desire, either way. "I would love it if I could give something that belonged to my mother."

Anthony's face quickly reddened. Clearly, he knew what Adrian wanted. He gulped and replied, "No."

"Father," Adrian tried to reason, but Anthony refused.

"Just because I am allowing this wedding to happen, it doesn't mean I have fully accepted everything," Anthony said.

A chilling silence in the air lingered for nearly a minute. Adrian's jaws were clenched, but he soon bounced back, saying, "Are you really my father? If my mother were here, she would have shared my happiness. For once, do something a father would do and actually care about what I want."

"Given our differences, I was never going to be someone who would appeal before you, but this time, I am asking. This is what I want. Riley is what I want," Adrian said. He sucked in a deep breath and asked again, "Dad, it would mean a lot to me if I can give Riley a piece that belonged to my mother."

Anthony stilled. He clenched his jaws, considering. After a while, he answered, "I'll think about it."

"How are Zia and your mother?" Adrian asked when he and Riley settled in bed.

After the engagement dinner, Riley accompanied her mother and Zia to the hospital, but Adrian stayed in the car since he had an important phone call. He didn't get to speak to Renee, but he hoped she accepted his family situation.

Renee and Zia were among the guests still present when Tonet and Fredrick arrived, so they witnessed the animosity between him and his stepfamily.

Riley climbed on the bed. She responded, "Mom is naturally worried about your stepfamily, but Grandpa had been so entertaining to her during dinner. She said, you at least have a wonderful grandpa. She hopes everything will turn out fine despite the opposition in your family."

"And she also loves Aunt Linda and the people you introduced her to," Riley added with a smile. Then, she giggled and revealed, "Zia thinks the drama in your family is fun and challenging!"

Ha!" Adrian chuckled. He opened his arms, and Riley automatically rested on his chest. He kissed her forehead and said, "Riley, about your engagement ring. I -"

"It's okay. I understand," Riley answered. "We decided on getting married too quickly, so I know you did not have enough time to get one."

"I could design it if you like?" Riley offered. She sat up, looking at Adrian with a sparkle in her eyes.

Adrian smiled and pinched Riley's cheek. He also sat up and said, "Actually, I had an engagement ring in mind for you, but I don't think I'll get it. However, I have chosen from your best designs from Adley."

"Ahah! So you were our first customer! We haven't even opened yet!" Riley scolded as she tucked her arms against her chest. Adley's operations manager, Janice, told her yesterday that a customer insisted on buying a wedding band and an engagement ring, but she refused to say who.

When Riley said that, the floodgates opened. Adrian sat up, held her waist, and pumped harder. Thrusting twice per second, the room quickly became filled with sensual melodies.
