Divorced the Cheat Married the Fleet (Camilla and Lance) novel Chapter 152

She had no idea at all. Still using the baby as a bargaining chip, she thought she was threatening them, clueless that Calvin really couldn’t care less.

Camilla shot Davina a subtle look, raising her eyebrow just enough to get her point across. Davina noticed, catching the gesture out of the corner of her eye, not missing a thing.

“Barnard, are you rushing me out because you’re scared she’ll get the wrong idea?” Davina’s voice was sharp. “You promised I’d get my place. That’s the only reason I risked everything to be with you. Are you taking it back now? Is it because you can’t let her go?”

Barnard’s patience snapped. “Davina, can you stop already? What is it you even want?” He used her full name, voice cold, tired of the whole scene.

“I want to know if you’re keeping your promise,” Davina shot right back. “Did you lie to me this entire time? Were you ever planning to divorce her?”

“Can you stop being so impossible?” Barnard was done trying to hide his frustration. For the first time, he realized Davina just couldn’t be reasoned with. He’d done so much to shield her, and here she was, making things worse at the worst possible time. Barnard felt completely drained, even starting to doubt himself for getting involved.

Davina pushed on. “Am I the one being unreasonable, or are you guilty? You’re the one who said you’d make this official. I gave you everything, and now I’m pregnant. Are you really going to turn your back on what you promised? Tell me. When are you divorcing her?”

Panic was creeping in now. Barnard was her only shot at climbing up in life. The recording Camilla had sent just triggered her fears, but Barnard ignoring her calls—that was what really pushed her over the edge. Seeing everyone in The Carter Estate showing Camilla respect in a house Davina wasn’t even allowed into, that was the last straw.

Now everything just piled up. She lost control. Barnard’s coldness made her anxious, and seeing how different he was with Camilla made her jealous. She needed to prove she could take Camilla’s place, at least in Barnard’s heart. It was obvious she was challenging Camilla right to her face.

Davina was still fuming, expecting Barnard to chase after her and comfort her like he always did. She didn’t notice how bad he looked, just stormed off, walking faster than he could follow. Wounded and exhausted, Barnard barely managed to keep up.

Camilla watched them from a distance, the faintest hint of a cold smile tugging at her lips. The real drama was just about to start. She wondered how long Barnard’s so-called love would hold out. He had lied to her, destroyed her reputation. Now, she was more than willing to shatter his idea of true love. She would make his precious dream nothing more than a stain he’d want to forget. Camilla was never the kind of girl to roll over and take it. Just like Lance had always said, she was sharp and fierce, perfectly capable of defending herself, even if she had to do it alone.

Laura had prepared a huge meal, hoping it would ease Camilla’s mood. But after Barnard and Davina left, she sat at the table in silence, frowning, unable to get a word out. The Carter estate felt unusually quiet that night.

Meanwhile, outside, in the Bentley parked by the side of the road, the tension between Barnard and Davina was about to boil over.
