Divorced the Cheat Married the Fleet (Camilla and Lance) novel Chapter 191

Camilla tried to act unfazed, but seeing Lance’s gift—a bracelet—she couldn’t help but think of the pendant she’d made herself. Both used the same deep blue sapphire as the centerpiece, but something about the comparison tugged at her heart.

“Cat got your tongue? Is my gift that moving?” Lance teased, watching her reaction closely.

After a brief pause, Camilla reached into her bag and pulled out her pendant. The stone was carved into a proud lion, bold and regal, hanging from a silver chain. It had a kind of dazzling confidence about it, something that matched Lance’s whole vibe.

He’d told her she could make whatever she wanted, no restrictions. Knowing how much he liked to stand out, Camilla immediately gravitated toward the blue sapphire. The lion was inspired by the Lance she remembered—brave, daring, and never backing down from anything.

“Another blue sapphire, huh?” Lance grinned, raising his brow. “Camilla, do we have some secret connection I don’t know about?”

She ignored his flirting and simply said, “I hope you’ll always stay brave and fearless. Never bow your head.”

He laughed, stepping closer. He leaned in with a smirk, dropping his head right in front of her, baring his neck for emphasis.

He was making it very clear. He wanted her to put the pendant on him herself.

Camilla hesitated, so Lance pressed, “Come on, it’s only fair, Miss Hedgehog. I already bowed my head for you. You’re not really going to make me into that ‘simp’ your son called me, are you?”

That “simp” jab—honestly, Jasper had crossed a line with that one. But now, with Lance half joking and half challenging her, Camilla found herself giving in.

She clasped the pendant around his neck. Lance flashed a wicked grin. “Congratulations, my queen. You’ve got your most loyal knight all tied up.”

“You…”

She shot him a look, not entirely sure what to say. Where did he even learn to say things that sounded so sweet and childish at the same time?

But hearing those words—in that deep, slightly husky voice of his—sent a tickle down her spine, something light and fluttery that danced right to her heart.

Lance seemed totally unaware of the effect he had on her. He held up the pendant, examining it thoughtfully, then pointed to the lion’s head. “Next time, maybe add a little rose right here. I only bow to you. The lion bows for the rose.”

Camilla’s face felt like it was on fire. She hurried to change the subject. “Alright, stop messing around. Let’s eat.”

Lance finally dialed down the charm, but he didn’t bother hiding the pendant under his shirt. It hung out in full view, bold as ever.

Jasper shot Lance a sly look. “That’s a secret between me and Mom.”

“Oh, keeping secrets, are we? That’s fine. I’ll figure it out sooner or later,” Lance said with a wink.

He bantered with Jasper like he was just one of the kids, not a grown man, no trace of adult superiority at all.

It made Camilla relax, seeing how easy things were between them. She turned to Lance, “I was just telling Jasper I might need your help watching him for a few more days, until I wrap up my work...”

Lance cut her off. “Why are you acting like this is such a big deal? I’m already tied to you, aren’t I? Whatever you need, just say the word. And quit calling me Lance. There’s no need for all that distance.”

He fiddled with the pendant around his neck as he spoke, and there was something unmistakable in his tone, almost like he was saying he already belonged to her.

He left Camilla with no room to say no, staking his claim right by her side without apology or hesitation. Even when his words sounded soft, he always had a way of making his presence impossible to ignore. It was almost too much for her. There was no escaping his confidence.

After dinner, Jasper started begging to go play. Lance asked a bodyguard to take Jasper outside, then turned to Camilla, his voice suddenly more serious. “Barnard’s already started digging into my background, and he’s convinced we have something going on. Everyone can see it, Camilla. Are you really not going to make things official?”
