Divorced the Cheat Married the Fleet (Camilla and Lance) novel Chapter 260

“Be a good boy, Jasper. Call me Dad, and I’ll buy you as many toys as you want. Remember how you always wanted to see the northern lights in Iceland? If you call me Dad today, I’ll take you there tomorrow.”

Jasper hesitated. He looked at Camilla, then shook his head, stubborn as ever. “No. I know you’re trying to win over my mom. You can only be my dad if she agrees to marry you.”

He clung tighter to Camilla’s hand. No matter how tempting Lance’s offer was, Jasper was determined to stand firmly by his mom’s side.

Lance glanced at Camilla and just grinned. “Wow, you’ve got your principles. Alright then. I’ll just wait for the day when you beg to call me Dad.”

His voice stayed easy, his eyes glancing past Camilla’s head. He didn’t push, not even a little.

He understood just how much pain Camilla’s last marriage had brought her. The way she’d opened up, even a little, already felt like a miracle.

Even if he wanted to rush ahead, Lance held himself back. He never wanted to force her or make things awkward.

Changing the subject, Lance scooped Jasper up with one arm, reaching the other hand out for Camilla. “Come on, my queen. Let’s head home.”

Tonight, Lance drove by himself. He took the wheel, bringing Camilla back to Brookfield Manor.

As soon as she stepped inside, Camilla stopped in her tracks. The floor was covered in rose petals.

Pink and white balloons hovered everywhere.

A soft, homey tablecloth had replaced the old one, scented candles glowed on the table, and the light played off an array of dinnerware.

On the small sofa in the center of the living room, gift boxes were stacked high.

Dresses, shoes, perfume, jewelry—gifts piled everywhere, filling most of the space.

She had lived here for months, but everything looked so different tonight that it felt brand new, almost unfamiliar.

“What is all this...?”

“Welcome home, my queen,” Lance said. “Kicking out a jerk like that is a huge reason to celebrate.”

Jasper piped up, eager for attention. “Mom! Lance and I blew up all the balloons. Aren’t they pretty?”

“They’re beautiful,” Camilla said softly.

Her eyes stung, and she had to blink back tears.

Ever since her father’s accident, her mother had carried the weight of their family. Camilla couldn’t even remember the last time anyone had gone out of their way to surprise her like this.

They bickered back and forth. The noise and warmth made Camilla relax.

After dinner, Camilla started to get up, planning to handle Jasper’s bedtime just like always.

Lance caught her. “Go on, get ready for bed. Leave the rest to me. My girlfriend isn’t here to do chores.”

He called Jasper over and whispered something. Jasper nodded right away. “Yeah, Mom, go rest! I’m going to help Lance clean up.”

Camilla watched as Jasper carried dishes to the kitchen, chatting and laughing with Lance. Seeing them work together happily, she let herself off the hook for the night.

When she finished her nighttime routine and went back to her room, a sudden thought made her heart pound in her chest.

Back in that private room, she’d totally let Lance talk her into bringing him home. But this house was small. There were only two bedrooms. Where was Lance supposed to sleep?

Was he really… would he…

Just the thought brought heat to her cheeks.

At that moment, she heard a knock on her door, and Lance’s voice came through. “Camilla, are you still awake?”
