Bonnie finally understood who Daisy was. When Daisy looked her straight in the eye and insulted Elaine again, calling her “scar-faced,” Bonnie started shaking with anger.
Elaine’s scars were all because of Daisy’s mother. Most of the scars on her face had been treated already, but you could still see some traces on her neck and a few spots beneath her hair.
It was one thing for kids to argue, but using the nastiest words just to reopen someone’s wounds… Bonnie couldn’t stand that at all.
Jasper was the first to lose his patience. “That’s enough! You’re such a crybaby. Who even wants to play with you?”
Daisy’s eyes burned red as she glared back. “You’re just jealous! Your dad doesn’t want you anymore. He’s my dad now! You… you’re the worst, Jasper. Serves you right!”
“Daisy,” Camilla said sharply. Daisy stiffened for a second, but then spoke up, still defiant. “Why are you yelling at me? My dad doesn’t want you guys anymore. Just wait until he gets here. Then we’ll see who’s in trouble.”
The nanny with Daisy finally seemed to catch on. “I already called Davina,” she said. “She’s coming right over. You hit Daisy, so just be prepared to pay for it.”
“Great,” Bonnie replied, her voice cool. “Let her come. I’ve got a few things to settle with her, too.”
Last time, if it weren’t for Camilla stepping in, things with Davina would have gotten even messier. Elaine was just getting better—how dare Davina’s daughter insult her like this? Bonnie had had enough.
Davina showed up in no time.
She barged in, voice piercing. “Rosalia, I only asked you to watch a kid. Was it really so hard you had to make me come all the way here? If they hit Daisy, just make them pay. The Carter family has your back. What’s there to be afraid of?”
She strutted in like she owned the place, acting every bit the rich socialite even before she stepped through the door.
Rosalia, the nanny, spoke up. “Davina, it’s not that simple. They all know Daisy, so I had to call you.”
Davina had barely gotten close when she spotted Camilla nearby. Instantly, a guilty look flashed across her face, but she turned to Daisy instead. “What happened?”
It was clear she was only talking to Daisy and wanted nothing to do with Camilla.
