Divorced the Cheat Married the Fleet (Camilla and Lance) novel Chapter 305

Sarah didn’t rush inside. Instead, she lingered by the front desk, chatting with the young receptionist. Her smile was bright, her eyes crinkling in a way that made her seem so warm and approachable. Even the receptionist, who was usually all about business, seemed more relaxed and talkative around her.

But as soon as she spotted Camilla, the receptionist straightened up and pulled back her smile. She greeted Camilla respectfully. “Camilla, you’re here. This lady says she’s waiting for you.”

Sarah practically bounced over, excitement clear on her face. “Camilla, you made it.”

“I already told you. I don’t blame you for what happened. There was really no need to come all this way,” Camilla replied.

Sarah’s smile wavered, replaced by a hint of guilt. “Even if you say that, I still think an apology feels more sincere in person. This perfume… I made it myself. I hope you don’t mind.”

She followed Camilla upstairs, carefully passing her a small, beautifully wrapped pouch.

Camilla shook her head, her tone gentle but firm. “I really don’t blame you, Sarah. And honestly, there’s no need to go to so much trouble. You don’t have to bring me gifts.”

But Sarah just wouldn’t let it go. “No way. I was the one in the wrong, so of course I should bring a gift. Please don’t be so formal with me, Camilla. Treat it as a favor, like testing out my perfume for me, alright?”

With no real way to refuse, Camilla accepted the little bag.

They sat together in a meeting room. Once they were settled, Sarah leaned in. “Actually, I came to ask for your advice on something else too.”

“Sure, what’s up?”

Sarah took a breath and looked a bit embarrassed. “Remember at that dinner, I mentioned I had someone I liked? Honestly, the real reason I came back to the country so soon was to try my luck with him. But I have no idea what kind of gift to get. Camilla, would you maybe come shopping with me and help me choose something?”

Camilla hesitated. “To be honest, I’m not an expert with this kind of stuff. I don’t know if I’d be any help. Didn’t you say you’re close with Shirley? I bet she knows you well, maybe she could help you out?”

Sarah shook her head. “Shirley’s never dated before, she’s even more clueless than I am. But my crush is so similar to Lance. You know, that tough, rebellious type. Since you spend so much time with Lance, I thought you’d have good advice.”

By the time Camilla wrapped things up at the office, evening was already setting in. Lance called first, checking in as usual. Knowing how protective he could be, Camilla didn’t mention she was meeting Sarah, just told him she had a few things to finish and would be home late.

After Lance reluctantly ended the call, Camilla went to meet Sarah.

Sarah showed up quickly and had even brought her a cup of bubble tea, which made Camilla smile.

On the walk to the shops, Camilla glanced at her. “Do you have anything in mind already? Or are we just browsing?”

Since the guy in the photo was into motorcycles, Camilla expected Sarah to be interested in something related to that. But Sarah blushed a little, nervously tucking her hair behind her ear. “I was actually thinking about maybe getting him a tie or a belt. I heard those are kind of personal gifts. If he accepts it, maybe that means he likes me too and then I’ll know I can keep going.”

Camilla frowned, thinking it over. Sarah was clearly shy and probably couldn’t just come out and say how she felt. Still, her plan wasn’t foolproof. What if the guy was the kind of player who took gifts from everyone and liked to keep things ambiguous? At the end of the day, she’d be the one getting hurt.
