“You’re really not going to give me a chance?” Sarah asked, voice small.

“I’ve already said, time will tell,” Camilla replied. “If you had some scheme, you could just pay some guy to pretend to be your boyfriend and say you’re together. But if that’s not the case, the truth will come out, and I’ll apologize. For now, let’s take a break, alright? Let’s give each other some space.”

Sarah’s face completely fell. She looked like she might cry at any second. Shirley finally snapped, her voice rising as she glared at Camilla. “Camilla, you’re the one who accused Sarah without proof. She still came here to apologize and you’re treating her like this? This is just cruel! How can someone be so selfish?”

Shirley, absolutely furious, grabbed Camilla’s arm. “You’re coming with us today. We need to settle this right now.”

Camilla shot her a chilly look, about to bite back, but Sarah quickly took Shirley’s hand and pulled her away. “Let it go, Shirley. It really was my fault for causing Camilla to misunderstand. If she doesn’t want my apology, I’ll just have to try harder. Let’s just leave. I don’t want to make things harder for her.”

She looked so hurt and defeated as she dragged Shirley toward the door.
