Divorced the Cheat Married the Fleet (Camilla and Lance) novel Chapter 328

“That woman was causing trouble behind my back again,” Calvin muttered, rubbing his temples as frustration threatened to drown him. “She wouldn’t confess to anything until the police showed up at our door. Now Camilla’s suing her.” He felt shame washing over him, so heavy he struggled to even look up.

Calvin had never thought much of Camilla. Even now, when she was no longer his daughter-in-law, somehow every single family embarrassment always seemed to end up in front of her. As someone who cared about his reputation, this was almost unbearable.

And it didn’t help that, even though the wedding hadn’t gone through, everyone already treated Davina as Barnard’s wife. He couldn’t just let this blow over. Just thinking about it made Calvin want to rewind time and remake his son from scratch.

“So… what do we do, then?” Laura was completely lost. How could somebody get into so much trouble so quickly?

Yesterday, they’d been focused on disciplining Barnard and let their guard down for just a moment. That was all the time Davina needed to stir up even more drama.

Calvin sighed, trying to keep his patience in check. “Where is Barnard? He’s the one who brought her home, so he can deal with her mess himself.”

“But… after we locked him up yesterday, I’m not sure if he’s thought things through yet. If we let him out, what if he just rushes right back to her?” Laura nervously twisted her hands.

After bringing Barnard home yesterday, Calvin had lost his temper and smacked him. It spun into a father-son shouting match. When it was clear Barnard wouldn’t back down, Calvin locked him in his room again. Now Laura didn’t feel safe about letting him out at all.

Calvin glanced at her, eyes cool. “If he doesn’t handle it, then will you? Are you going to do it yourself?”

“I…” Laura shrank back at the thought of going down to the police station, having to deal with both the officers and Camilla. Whenever Camilla used to live with them, she handled every single problem that popped up. Laura had never been good at these sorts of things, and honestly, what Davina did was beyond embarrassing. She didn’t want to put herself out there.

Laura went quiet, but Calvin understood exactly how she felt. “Just tell Barnard if he fixes this mess properly, I’ll unfreeze his bank cards and let him go. No more locking him up.”

He needed to keep his pride, and as a man of his status, there was no way he’d lower himself to argue with police at a station. Laura was too gentle to handle it, so that left only Barnard.

It didn’t take long for Laura to send someone to let Barnard out and pass on Calvin’s message. Once Barnard had left, she came back to Calvin’s side.
