Divorced the Cheat Married the Fleet (Camilla and Lance) novel Chapter 404

With a personality as fiercely overbearing as Laura's, the idea of her abandoning her amputee son in a hospital room was simply unimaginable.

Camilla felt a similar sense of unease.

One thing was certain—Calvin had extorted a massive sum of money from Tessa, and he was definitely hiding out in Valdoria. If they were in the same city, for him to avoid his own son was incredibly suspicious.

While Camilla processed the information, Dahlia kept talking. "Magee told me Barnard has been throwing violent tantrums ever since the amputation. He's been screaming at his mistress non-stop these past few days.

"He used to parade around boasting about his 'true love' and treated you like garbage. Seeing him end up like this is pure karma."

Dahlia's brow smoothed out, feeling deeply vindicated on Camilla's behalf.

"Are Magee and Barnard still close?" Camilla asked casually.

Barnard was absolute bad news. Regardless of Magee's own character flaws, Camilla worried that if he stayed too close to Barnard, he'd be influenced to hurt Dahlia again.

Dahlia thought about it for a second. "Probably not as much. Lately, Barnard tries to call Magee over every little thing, and Magee has blown him off countless times. After finishing the surgery, Magee barely wanted to see him at all. They've definitely drifted apart.

"I can tell Magee is intentionally keeping his distance. He really is different now."

Just then, Dahlia's phone buzzed. It was Magee asking for the restaurant's address so he could pick her up.

She didn't decline, reading off the address before turning back to Camilla. "I don't know all the details anyway. You can ask Magee about Barnard when he gets here."

Less than half an hour later, Magee walked into the restaurant. Faintly smelling of hospital antiseptic, he offered Camilla a polite greeting before taking the seat right next to Dahlia.

He frowned the moment he noticed the iced juice in front of her. "It's almost that time of the month for you. You shouldn't be having anything ice-cold right now. Let's swap this for some hot milk."

"Magee, you're so controlling," Dahlia complained.

"I was the one who brought you out of Cabinda to get your health back on track. I'm responsible for every one of your vitals. Be good," he replied smoothly.

Dahlia rolled her eyes but didn't argue further. Magee then added, "I've narrowed down a few potential locations for your pet shop. Since Camilla is here, she can give you some advice."
