Divorced the Cheat Married the Fleet (Camilla and Lance) novel Chapter 457

The breeze blowing off the river carried a biting chill.

Leaning into Lance's embrace, Camilla felt a sense of security she had never known before.

Just as the moment felt perfectly peaceful, a shrill scream shattered the quiet. "Camilla! You bitch! You ruined Barnard! I'm going to make you pay!"

Davina burst out of nowhere, wielding a switchblade, and lunged straight at Camilla.

Lance moved with lightning speed. He snatched the knife from her grasp while simultaneously kicking Davina to the ground. But the sharp edge grazed his wrist, and bright red blood instantly spurted out.

Davina stumbled back and crashed into the riverside railing, her eyes locked onto Camilla with pure, venomous hatred.

It all happened so fast. The people watching the fireworks were stunned for a second before chaos erupted into panicked screaming.

"Murder! She's trying to kill them!"

"Call the police! She's got a knife!"

The romantic atmosphere by the river was instantly destroyed, replaced by a wave of terror all thanks to Davina.

A couple of burly men in the crowd rushed forward and pinned Davina down. Unable to break free, her eyes remained fixed on Camilla like poisoned darts as she shrieked, "Why are you stopping me? She's a homewrecker! She stole my husband!

Shouldn't you be going after that morally bankrupt tramp?

What did I do wrong? Why are you holding me?!"

Her ear-piercing screams drew everyone's attention toward Camilla.

The crowd looked at Camilla, then at Lance standing beside her, their expressions turning incredibly strange.

Although Camilla looked a bit pale, her features were stunning, and she exuded an unmistakable aura of elegance. She looked like a wealthy heiress in her late twenties. As for Lance, his striking looks were straight out of a classic oil painting.

The two were clearly intimate; anyone could see they were a couple.

Yet Davina was claiming...

While waiting for the police to arrive, a middle-aged woman in the crowd couldn't hold back anymore. "Lady, I think you've got the wrong idea. Look at them, they're a picture-perfect couple. What does she have to do with you? Don't tell me you're claiming this handsome guy is your husband?"

Before Davina could answer, laughter rippled through the crowd. Everyone stared at her like she was out of her mind, clearly finding the whole situation hilarious.

Furious, Davina screamed, "My husband is lying in a hospital bed because of her, and she's out here living it up! She's a homewrecker! If it wasn't for her, my husband wouldn't be in this mess!"

She's a disgusting homewrecker!"

Davina's furious accusations only made her look worse in the eyes of the crowd.

The woman's jaw dropped. "Wait... you got with her ex-husband, and now you're constantly paranoid and jealous of her? Let me guess—were you the original homewrecker?"

A chorus of agreement murmured through the crowd, everyone glaring at Davina with utter disdain.

Seeing that her words were only digging her grave deeper, Davina felt like her head was about to explode. Right at that moment, the wail of police sirens pierced the air. The crowd parted, and Davina was hauled into a patrol car.

With both witnesses and physical evidence present, Davina had no room to argue. Camilla gave a brief statement to the officers before taking Lance to get his wound treated.

The blade had sliced across his wrist bone. The cut wasn't too deep and hadn't hit any major tendons, but the relentless bleeding looked terrifying.

The doctors got him bandaged up. Just as they were walking out of the examination room, they ran straight into Laura.

Laura's eyes were swollen to slits. She had lost every ounce of her elegant, high-society composure. Her face was as pale as a vampire from a medieval painting. Sensing movement, she looked up and locked eyes with Camilla.

She forced her puffy eyes wide open, looking as though they were about to pop out of her skull, and marched furiously toward Camilla. "Camilla! Are you satisfied now that you've ruined my entire family? How can a woman be so deeply evil?!"
