Divorced the Cheat Married the Fleet (Camilla and Lance) novel Chapter 475

She knew she had a loose tongue.

After she finished bandaging him up, their grandfather reminded Lance to rest, hired a private nurse, and escorted Jeniffer out of the hospital.

Shortly after they left, Camilla returned with Jasper.

As she approached the door, she spotted Tessa pacing back and forth in the hallway, clearly hesitating to go inside.

Camilla had absolutely zero affection for the woman.

But since Tessa was blocking the only way into the room and was technically the boy's grandmother, Camilla gave a stiff, obligatory greeting. "Tessa, since you're already here, why aren't you going in?"

Tessa turned around. She frowned, pressing her lips together without offering a reply, and her feet remained firmly planted in front of the door.

Camilla tried again. "If you don't plan on going in, please step aside so we can."

Tessa had been agonizing over whether to enter, but Camilla's sharp tone set her off. "What kind of attitude is that? I demand some respect. You don't rush me like that."

"Sorry, Tessa, but I just finished making Lance some hot soup and I need to get it to him. He just woke up, he's incredibly weak, and he needs someone looking after him. If you refuse to go inside, please stop blocking the doorway."

Seeing Tessa demanding respect after everything that had happened made Camilla's blood boil. Her tone grew noticeably sharper.

Tessa glared at her furiously. Her eyes dropped to the insulated thermos in Camilla's hands, a complicated emotion flashing across her face, before she finally shuffled half a step to the side.

Camilla didn't waste another word. She grabbed Jasper's hand, brushed past her, and pushed the door open, her heart heavy with righteous anger.

Tessa was his biological mother. He was in this state because he had traded his life for hers, and yet she showed up completely empty-handed.

Camilla vividly remembered when Sarah was hospitalized for a staged suicide attempt. Tessa had sat by the bed peeling fruit for her, cooing over her with the gentlest voice imaginable.

The contrast was sickening.

Lance had his eyes closed, resting. At the sound of the door opening, his eyes fluttered open, his gaze landing perfectly on Camilla. But a second later, a deep frown etched itself onto his face.
