Chapter127.
The soft, warm orange light bathed the entire room in a hazy, dreamlike ambiance.
The air conditioning was set to 77 degrees Fahrenheit.
The door was locked, the curtains were drawn, and the light flickered beneath the lamp.
She wanted to turn off the light, but Damon didn’t want her to.
Despite her experience, she was still, in some ways, too reserved, traditional, and even a little conservative.
Naturally, a sense of shyness arose.

Especially since she was the one taking the initiative, making it even harder to hide her restraint and bashfulness.
He held her slender, pale waist with his hands, his deep, dark eyes shining like brilliant stars, gazing intently at her.
The night outside the window was hazy, filled with the chirping of insects.
A gentle breeze carried the summer heat, rustling through the trees in the garden.
Thick branches swayed gently.
A gentle breeze rustled the branches, coaxing the leaves to surrender their hold.
That night, sleep was the last thing on their minds.
The next morning dawned bright and cheerful.
Aubrey was too exhausted to even sit up.
Damon certainly knew how to wear her out. The injury to his thigh was clearly no impediment; though he wasn’t exactly rough, it didn’t affect his stamina in the slightest.
After barely any sleep the entire night, he was up bright and early.
He sat at his desk, brimming with energy, ready to start working from home.
She blinked open her heavy eyelids and turned her head to look at him, a warmth spreading through her heart and through her body, cocooned under
the covers.
Memories from the night before flooded her mind. The sheets, the pillows, the blankets – everything carried Damon’s scent, a comforting aroma that felt like a warm embrace.
Before, she had been trapped by depression, unable to sleep or get out of bed.
Now, she simply couldn’t bear to leave his bed.
She stirred in the sheets, and Damon caught her movement from the corner of his eye. His gentle voice drifted over from the desk.“Awake?”
“Mmm,” Aubrey murmured, clutching the duvet around her as she slowly sat up. One hand pressed against her chest, the other smoothing her tangled hair, she looked over at Damon.
Though the bed and desk were across the spacious room, as their eyes met, a sudden heat filled the space between them.
Aubrey’s cheeks flushed as she glanced around for her nightgown.
She found the gown and panties at the foot of the bed, quickly slipped them on, and stepped out of bed, sliding her feet into slippers. She smoothed her ong hair with both hands as she headed into the bathroom
Standing in front of the sink, Aubrey gazed at her reflection. Her cheeks were flushed, and her eyes held a brightness that had been missing for a long time. She was still too thin, but at least she looked better.
She should sleep with Damon more often; maybe he could cure her depression.
After all, love was more effective than any medication.
If it were just a mild case of depression, she would probably be cured by now.
But this was severe depression, and it wasn’t something she could easily heal on her own. She still needed medication and systematic therapy from a doctor.

Aubrey took a deep breath, lowered her head, and opened the cabinet under the sink.
She paused, surprised by what she saw inside.

Inside, she found a small box of black hair ties, an unopened pack of sanitary pads, two new combs, several new towels, a new toothbrush and cup. women’s perfume, skincare products, and more.
From the next room, Damon had already prepared everything for her, waiting for her to move in and share his space.
Her heart felt warm, yet heavy.
She took out her toiletries, washed her face, brushed her teeth, applied moisturizer, and smoothed her long hair.
Leaving her hair down, cascading over her shoulders, would make her look more delicate and alluring.
She still wanted to show Damon her best self.
Ten minutes later, she walked out of the bathroom.
She went to the desk, and Damon looked up from his computer screen, his gaze softening as he saw her, a gentle smile gracing his lips.
He wheeled his office chair over to her, took both her hands in his, and looked up at her pretty, innocent face, asking softly,“Going to work?”
“Yeah,” Aubrey nodded.
“Hold me for a sec.” Damon released her hands, snaking his arms around her waist, pulling her close until his face was buried against her soft, fragrant chest. He closed his eyes, inhaling deeply, savoring her unique scent.
Aubrey’s hand rested on his shoulder, the other gently caressing his thick, dark hair. Her heart skipped a beat.
Damon’s love was always so tender yet passionate, never hesitant in its expression.
“Damon!”
“Hmm?”
“I love you!”
Damon looked up from her embrace, a faint smile gracing his handsome features.“Bree, kiss me.”
