Before he could overthink it, I leaned in and kissed him

This time it wasn’t clumsy of accidental. I kissed him slow and deep, tasting the faint sweetness of whatever he’d had for dinner mixed with the nervousness rolling off him in waves. Viktor made a soft, surprised sound against my mouth, but then his hands found my waist, gripping me like he was afraid I’d disappear if he let go.

The kiss quickly grew hotter. I parted my lips, inviting him in, and he took the invitation with surprising hunger. His tongue brushed mine, tentative at first, then bolder as I moaned softly into his mouth. One of his hands slid up my back, pulling the closer until I was almost off the bed and pressed against his body.

When we finally broke apart, both of us breathing hard, I could feel how fast his heart was racing under my palm.

“See?” I whispered, my forehead resting against his. “That’s how you kiss someone when you like them.”

Viktor’s breath was shaky. His hands were still on my waist, thumbs unconsciously stroking the skin under my shirt. ” Scarlett… you’re drunk,” he said quietly, but there was no real force behind the words. His voice had gone low and rough, the shy nerd suddenly sounding a lot less shy.

“I know,” I replied, smiling as I traced my thumb along his bottom lip. “But I still want you to kiss me again.”

He swallowed hard, eyes dark with want even without his glasses. For a moment I thought he might pull away and tell me to leave again.

Instead, he leaned in and kissed me once more deeper this time, like he’d been holding back for months.

The kiss grew hotter, sweeter, until I suddenly found my back pressed against Viktor’s bed, his body hovering over mine. My legs had somehow ended up on either side of his hips, cradling him as he settled between them. The weight of him felt surprisingly good. It was solid, warm, and far more commanding than his usual shy demeanor suggested.

Then he broke the kiss.

He pulled back just enough to kneel upright on the bed, breathing hard. In one smooth motion, he reached behind his neck and tugged his hoodie off, tossing it aside.

My breath caught.

Holy shit.

Underneath the baggy clothes was a body that didn’t belong to the awkward nerd I thought I knew. His chest was broad and defined, shoulders strong and sculpted, with a clear six-pack that flexed as he moved. His arms were corded with lean muscle, veins standing out along his forearms. A light trail of dark hair disappeared beneath the waistband of his sweatpants, drawing my eyes downward. He looked like he belonged on a magazine cover – masculine, powerful, and undeniably hot.

Who would have thought a nerd hid this underneath all those hoodies?

He leaned down again, clearly intending to kiss me, but I quickly placed my palm flat against his warm, firm chest, stopping him.

“Is this really you?” I whispered, still staring at his body in disbelief.

“Yeah,” he answered softly, his breath brushing my face. “Why?”

I just shook my head, too stunned to explain.

Before I could gather my thoughts, he captured my mouth again, kissing me deeply, hungrily. His lips trailed down to my neck, hot and insistent, while his

He froze, confusion flashing across his face. “But you were the one who~”

“I’m sorry,” I said quickly, scrambling out from under him and standing up on shaky legs. My heart was racing, and the alcohol was still making everything feel too intense. “I shouldn’t have come in here in the first place. I was drunk and acting without even thinking.”

Viktor sat back on the bed, sighing softly as he ran a hand through his hair. He looked disappointed, but he didn’t argue.

“Goodnight,” I muttered, already heading for the door. “And please… next time I act this way, just call the cops

I rushed out of his apartment and back into mine, slamming the door behind me. I collapsed onto my bed, staring at the ceiling as my head spun.

What the hell are you doing, young woman?

After a few minutes of lying there replaying everything, I forced myself up. I sent some money to Martha like I’d promised, took a long, hot shower to wash away the night, ordered some late-night food, and finally crawled back into bed.

Sleep came slowly, but it came.
