Chapter 36
Lala
I couldn’t look at him.
My face burned hotter than it ever had. My thighs were still trembling, slick and sticky, and the wet spot on the table beneath me felt huge, obvious, and impossible to ignore. I’d never felt anything like that before. The pressure, the rush, the way everything exploded and then… poured out of me. thought I’d peed. Right there. During sex. On him.
I wanted to disappear.
I pushed at his chest again, gently this time, and turned my head away. My voice came out small and shaky. “You should leave.”
Ryder didn’t move. He stayed right there between my legs, hands still on my hips, cock softening but still inside me. He didn’t pull out. Didn’t step back. He just looked at me.
“Lila,” he said softly. “I’m not going anywhere till you tell me what’s going on.”
I squeezed my eyes shut. My cheeks felt like fire. “Nothing’s going on. Just… go.”
He didn’t budge. Instead, he leaned down closer. His forehead rested lightly against mine. “Baby, talk to me. You were fine a minute ago. Now you’re shaking and won’t look at me. What happened?”
I bit my lip so hard I tasted blood. The words stuck in my throat. I couldn’t say it. I couldn’t tell him I thought I’d peed on him. On the table. During the hottest moment of my life. He’d think I was disgusting. Or immature. Or broken.
“Lila,” he said again, quieter. His hand came up and cupped my cheek, forcing me to turn my face toward him. “Look at me.”
I opened my eyes slowly. Reluctantly. His gaze was steady. Concerned. Not angry. Not disgusted. Just… worried.
“I-” My voice cracked. “I… I think I peed.”
“Pee?” he asked, genuinely looking confused.
“Yeah,” I nodded. “I couldn’t control it. Sorry.”
He blinked. Once. Then his expression softened. A small, understanding smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.
“You didn’t pee,” he said gently.
I stared at him. “What?”
Γ
“That wasn’t pee, sweetheart.” He brushed his thumb across my cheek. “You squirted. It’s normal. It happens when it feels really good when you come really hard. Especially if you’re sensitive and I hit the right spot.”
My eyes widened. “Really?”
He nodded. “Really. It’s hot as hell, by the way. Seeing you lose it like that? Fuck, Lila. You have no idea what that did to me.”
I felt my face flush even deeper, but this time it wasn’t just embarrassment. It was something else. Relief. A tiny spark of pride. “So… it’s not gross?”
“Not even a little.” He leaned in and kissed me softly. Slow. Reassuring. “It’s the opposite. It means I did my job right.”

Hout a shaky gh. “I thought I ruined everything.”
“You didn’t rum a damn thing” He kissed me again, deeper this time, then pulled back just enough to look at me. “You’re perfect. Every messy, beautifikpart of you.”
I searched his face. He wasn’t teasing. He wasn’t lying. He meant it.
The knot in my chest loosened a fraction.
He stayed inside me a little longer, soft now, just holding me. Then he pulled out slowly. Kissed my forehead. My nose. My lips.
“Let’s clean you up,” he said quietly. “Then, we can sleep tonight.”
I nodded. Small. Shaky.
“Okay.”
He helped me off the table. My legs wobbled. He scooped me up again – bridal style this time- and carried me to the bathroom. Set me on the counter. Ran warm water. Grabbed a soft cloth.
He cleaned me gently. Carefully. Like I was something precious. Kissed my knee while he worked Kissed my thigh. Looked up at me with those gray eyes that always saw too much.
When he finished, he wrapped me in a towel. Pulled me against his chest.
“No more pushing ourselves away,” he said softly. “We figure our relationship out together. Deal?”
I rested my forehead against his shoulder. “Deal.”
He kissed the top of my head.

Ryder’s POV
That morning I woke up before the sun had fully risen. The room was still dim, soft gray light slipping through the curtains. Lila was curled against me, breathing slow and even, her face peaceful in sleep. Her hair was messy across the pillow, lips slightly parted. She looked so small, so unguarded. I didn’t want to move, Didn’t want to break whatever quiet peace we’d found after everything exploded last night.
I pressed my lips gently to her forehead. She stirred a little but didn’t wake. I slipped out of bed carefully, pulled on my jeans and shirt from the floor, and grabbed a scrap of paper and pen from the nightstand, wrote quickly:
I’ll sneak back into the house soon. Meanwhile, you look so beautiful while you sleep.
then climbed
I set the note on the table where she’d see it. Took one last look at her – chest rising and falling, face soft out the window the same way I’d come in. The trellis groaned under my weight but held. I landed quietly in the yard and walked fast to the main road. Flagged a taxi before anyone could see me.
The driver took me back to where I’d left the truck. It was still there on the side of the road, dead as hell. I called a vulcanizer I knew the guy showed up quick with his tools. Battery terminals were corroded; the starter was acting up too. Took longer than I liked to fix – almost an hour of cursing and wrenching. But eventually the engine turned over. I paid him, goi
in, and drove home.
My phone buzzed halfway there. A text from Martha
Lila’s mom, my sister-in-law.
