My face fabered for half a second in surprise maybe relief, maybe fear, but I caught law. I stepped forward, dig the

He set the mug down on the windowsill with a soft clink. The room felt smaller tøddenly

I was crossing the line now. No turning back

His eyes darkened as I got closer, my pupils expanding and breath deepening. He didn’t move away. He didn’t speak. He just watched me like he was waiting to see exactly how far I’d go.

My pulse roared in my ears.

This was it

The camera was still hidden on the shelf behind me. Recording,

I just had to get him to cross first.

I stopped inches away, close enough to feel the heat radiating off his body, close enough to smell the coffee on his breath mixed with that dark cologne I’d never forget.

“Professor,” I whispered, letting my fingers brush the front of his shirt-light, teasing barely there. “Are you going to keep standing there… or are you going to show me how much you agree?

His smirk faded into something hungrier.

One large hand lifted slowly, hovering near my waist like he was giving me one last chance to back out.

I didn’t.

I leaned in instead.

Black’s large, warm hand finally moved slowly and deliberately. His fingers settled on my waist, splaying wide over the red fabric, the heat of his palm seeping straight through to my skin. Then he pulled me closer in one smooth, unhurried tug

My body shivered under his touch, a full-body ripple that started at the point of contact and raced upward. My heart slammed against my ribs so hard I was sure he could feel it. I couldn’t keep my eyes straight on him my gaze kept dropping to his mouth, his jaw, the open collar of his shin-anywhere but those piercing eyes.

“What?” he murmured, his voice low and teasing. “I thought you wanted this. Now you can’t look me straight in the eye?”

I forced myself to lift my chin. Swallowed hard.

Those pale blue eyes stared back. They were cold, unblinking, but burning underneath. Ready to drag me under. His gav held mine for a long beat before sliding down slowly to the deep plunge of my cleavage, the soft swell of my breasts rising

to my

face. and falling too fast. Then back up

He pulled me in even closer.

My thigh brushed against the hard length of him again. Damn, he really was big.

And here he was, hungry, hard, hands on me when he had a fiancée waiting somewhere. What a jerk.

Chapter 51

u guessing you really don’t want to know why I called you in he said, voice rough now

I swallowed again. “Tknow why. You wanted to know why I showed up that day looking like this?

He waited.

“But I’ll tell you anyway,” I continued, trying to keep my voice steady, “I came here to have fit, with you, Mr. Black And I’m glad you’re enjoying this more than I am”

He chuckled lowly and darkly, vibrating through his chest into mine. Then he leaned in close ups hovering just above mine, breath warm against my skin.

It was time.

I closed my eyes. The plan flashed through my mind: the second his mouth touched mine, I’d pull back, show him the feed, flip everything.

But his lips never met mine.

Instead, his mouth brushed my ear-close, intimate, dangerous.

“Why did you hide a camera in my office?”

My heart stopped.

My eyes flew open.

He stepped back just enough to break the contact, his hand sliding off my waist like it had never been there.

“What?” My voice shook, barely a whisper.

“You don’t want me repeating the question, do you?”

I shook my head-too fast, too frantic.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

He just smirked-that slow, knowing curl of his lips that made my stomach drop. Then he turned, walked across the room with calm, measured steps, and reached behind the row of leather-bound books on the shelf.

He pulled out the tiny camera.

Held it up between two fingers like it was nothing.

Pointed casually toward the corner ceiling where a small, blinking red light indicated the real CCTV.

“I’m not a fool, Bella.”

He tossed the camera into my palm. It landed with a soft, humiliating weight.

“Leave.”

My eyes filled instantly with hot, stinging tears blurring the edges of the room. I took one shaky step back, then another. The umbrella was still outside the door. I didn’t care. I didn’t grab it. I just turned and scurried out, my heels slipping on the polished floor, my red dress suddenly feeling cheap and ridiculous instead of powerful.
