With a loudspeaker in hand, Elena’s voice boomed clearly. “Metahumans below! Join me, and I’ll fure all these zombies away. Refuse, and you’re all dead!”
The speaker’s quality was top–tier–every word echoed across the street, reaching every ear
Those fighting below glanced up, their faces a mix of shock and skepticism.
For the zombies, though, the noise was pure adrenaline–coupled with the overwhelming scent of living humans, they went into a frenzy. Piling on top of each other, they formed a two–deep wall of writhing bodies, closing in on the building
“Fall back!”
“The zombies are going crazy–get inside!”
In the midst of the horde, ordinary humans without Super Powers fell first, cut down in seconds. Two metahumans also perished before the rest scrambled back into the building.
But Elena wasn’t done–she set the loudspeaker to loop her message, the relentless volume keeping the zombies in a violent ‘renzy.
Jace and the others arrived soon after, herding a second wave of zombies toward the complex. The undead pressed tighter, slamming their fists against the first–floor windows and doors, which creaked under the strain.
f they broke through, the building would be overrun–no one would survive, except Elena.
Eight metahumans stormed onto the rooftop moments later, led by the overweight Logan Barnes. Seeing only Elena–a single woman–they sneered, contempt dripping from their expressions.
Logan spat, his voice thick with malice. “You? Lure away zombies? What a load of bullshit!”
‘I’m the one who lured them here–I can just as easily lead them away,” Elena said calmly, standing at the rooftop edge, ready to
etreat at a moment’s notice.
‘You lured them? How the hell could you pull that off?” Logan mocked.
Elena ignored him, lifting her walkie–talkie. “Keep bringing more zombies.”
Four resounding “Got it!” replies came through, sharp and unwavering.
‘Logan, look–armored vehicles!” someone shouted, pointing at Jace’s approaching trucks.
Doubt melted into horror. She really was behind this.
‘Why are you screwing with us? You wanna die?” Logan snarled, refusing to back down.
He raised his hand, preparing to unleash his superpower–only for his head to hit the ground with a thud, his body crumpling to the floor.
“Logan!”
“Logan!”

The remaining metahumans froze, staring at their leader’s decapitated body, then at Elena as she wiped blood from her grappling hook. Swallowing hard, they exchanged terrified glances.
Elena’s gaze swept over them, her voice lazy yet sharp with impatience.
“I assume you’re all smart enough to understand how the world works now–only the strong survive. Your leader’s dead, and the building’s surrounded. You have two choices: swear loyalty to me, or die here.”
“How do we know you won’t kill us?” one metahuman dared to ask.
The next second, a bolt of searing lightning struck him before he finished speaking. He collapsed to the ground, twitching briefly before going still, the smell of burnt flesh filling the air.
‘Ugh!” One metahuman doubled over, vomiting at the sight.
The rest fell silent, stunned by Elena’s overwhelming power.
‘Captain! I’ll follow you!” A man in a red tank top stepped forward, surrendering without hesitation. He knew resistance was futile –this woman was far too strong.
The others quickly followed, bowing their heads. “Captain!”
With the zombies still battering the building, Elena knew time was running out.
She flipped off the loudspeaker and spoke into her walkie–talkie.
‘Stop bringing zombies. Lead the horde away instead.”
‘On it, captain!” Jace’s reply came instantly.
Within minutes, the armored vehicles roared back, drawing the zombies‘ attention away from the building.
The metahumans on the rooftop remained still, not daring to move until Elena spoke.
Once the street cleared of most zombies, she finally nodded. “Stand up. Show me my new territory.”
The man in the red tank top jumped to his feet, bowing respectfully and gesturing for her to lead the way. Elena walked ahead, the six remaining metahumans trailing behind her, heads bowed.
She paid little mind to the possibility of betrayal–these men were nothing to her, their every move under her watchful eye.
As they reached the fifth floor, two more metahumans stood guard, their eyes widening in surprise. But at the silent warning from the others, they said nothing, quickly bowing as well.
“Show some respect–call her Captain!” the red tank top man barked.
“Captain!” the two metahumans said, their voices trembling with awe.
