learly, the man in the red tank top ranked second only to Logan in the gang–his orders carried weight with the other
netahumans.
tena finished touring the building in no time. The first floor housed a conference room, floors two through four served as living uarters, and the fifth was stacked high with supplies.
in the third floor, a lavish suite stood out–undoubtedly Logan’s former residence. Leaning lazily against the sofa, she fixed her aze on the red–shirted man. “What’s your name?”
Liam Parker, captain. I have Wood Power,” he replied respectfully, then added thoughtfully. “Our base suffered heavy losses–only welve metahumans remain. Besides me, there are three Fire Power metahumans, two Water Power metahumans, two more Wood ower metahumans, three Earth Power metahumans… and one with a strange power we can’t classify. Here’s the record.”
e handed Elena a notebook filled with everyone’s details. Flipping through it, Elena paused at the last name, marked with a thick ne: Larry Summers.
ext to it read, “Seems capable of controlling other metahumans…”
lena’s brows lifted.
ould this be a Mental Super Power?
flicker of anticipation crossed her face. “Bring this Larry to me.”
iam nodded and returned moments later with a tall man. Unlike the grimy survivors of the apocalypse, Larry was impeccably ressed–in a black trench coat and gold–rimmed glasses, exuding the aura of a sophisticated villain. His golden pupils, visible ehind the lenses, seemed to hold a hypnotic pull.
lena’s surprise grew. That gaze confirmed it–definitely a Mental Super Power.
her past life, she’d encountered only two such metahumans, both formidable beyond measure.
ortunately, her own mental strength was unshakable, and Larry’s ability was still underdeveloped–harmless to her, but otentially devastating to others. Mental powers could even control zombies, depending on the user’s skill.
Captain,” Larry greeted with a respectful bow.
Elena nodded faintly. Absorbing this small team had been a wise choice–securing a Mental Power metahuman was no trivial natter.
However, whether these people could be of use to her remained uncertain to Elena. So, she resolved to employ the System’s analytical feature to size them up.
‘System, analyze Larry,” she murmured silently.
The System’s voice echoed in her mind.
“Larry Summers: Male, 27, 5 feet 11 inches, 137 pounds. Virgo. Super Power: Mental Power. Average loyalty, average sense of responsibility, above–average IQ, high combat potential. Team compatibility: 89%-good.”
Decent stats.

Elena raised an eyebrow.
“Captain, all zombies are lured away–should we join you?” Jace’s voice crackled over the walkie–talkie.
“Come on over. Stay alert,” she instructed, then turned back to Liam. “Where are the prisoners you’re holding?”
“In the adjacent building. Shall I bring them here?”
At Elena’s nod, Liam hurried off.
Soon, thirty–odd bound men and women were herded into the room–most of them women, dressed in tattered, filthy clothes that barely covered their bodies. Elena’s eyes turned icy.
Liam panicked, rushing to explain, “These… these were Logan’s playthings.”
That pig–using so many women like toys.
Elena thought his quick death had been too merciful. At the back of the crowd stood a handsome man in white, his demeanor calm and refined–Alexander, a legend in her past life.
A faint, almost imperceptible smile appeared on Elena’s face. To see the proud Alexander in such a state, she couldn’t resist teasing
‘Him–bring him forward,” she said lazily, nodding at Alexander. Liam and the others roughly shoved him to her feet.
3ound tightly like a mummy, Alexander glared at Elena, his eyes cold and unyielding.
‘Elena, shall I prepare him as your boy toy?” Liam asked, ever attentive.
Elena shook her head. “Not my type.”
Alexander’s glare sharpened.
Amused, Elena dropped the teasing, leaning back against the sofa. “Mr. Dickens, you’re already mine–bought and paid for.”
Alexander frowned, not understanding. A sneer appeared on his face.
Elena pulled out the indenture contract, waving it in front of him. “Your teammate, Harvey, signed it on your behalf. Want to take a ook?”
Shock washed over Alexander’s face. “Harvey… he sent you to rescue me?”
Elena nodded, feigning regret. “But since you don’t seem to acknowledge this contract, I’ve changed my mind. Mr. Dickens, fend for yourself.”
