Chapter 10
Josie didn’t retreat. She yanked the heavy loading dock door fully open and stepped out into the dim light.
Whoosh!
A dozen more blades whistled through the air, screaming straight for her face.
osie’s hand moved in a blur. She pulled her massive, five–foot Legendary Blade from her void space, spinning it in a defensive arc that created an Impenetrable wall of steel.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Sparks rained down on the concrete as her heavy sword effortlessly parried every single incoming projectile.
Those weren’t just thrown knives. They were floating, hovering in the air, controlled by an unseen force.
A Metal Manipulator.
Looks like someone else had the exact same idea. They’d scoped out this mega–mall and wanted the underground warehouse for themselves.
Too bad for them, Josie was faster. With her Spatial Vault–the ultimate apocalyptic cheat code–she’d already cleared the place out. They were a step oo late, and now they wanted to steal her prize.
Drop the loot and I might let you live!” a man shouted from the shadows of a nearby delivery truck, his voice dripping with arrogant confidence. “I saw you walk in empty–handed and come out with a loaded backpack. Hand it over! Otherwise, you’re dead meat!”
osie let out a low, dark chuckle. A surge of pure adrenaline rushed through her veins.
She hadn’t had a chance to test her limits yet. She wanted to see exactly how she’d hold up against a Metallic Super using nothing but pure physical orce and ten years of raw combat experience.
She pulled her black face mask up over her nose and tugged her beanie down low. Clad entirely in black tactical gear, she vanished into the shadows of he loading dock.
She chose to go dark. It was time for a hunt.
Before the Metallic Super could even blink, Josie was already closing the distance. She burst from the shadows directly into his face, her heavy blade lashing as she lunged.
Sht! The man panicked, throwing his hands up. A thick sheet of scrap metal flew from the truck, forming a crude shield between them.
Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!
n just a few heartbeats, they traded over twenty blistering blows. The sheer, terrifying weight of Josie’s greatsword hammered against his makeshift hield, driving him backward step by agonizing step.
The Metallic Super had raw power, but he had zero actual combat experience. He was swinging blindly, relying entirely on his ability to block her
trikes.
osie was different. She had survived ten years of absolute hell. She knew how to read a fight. She knew exactly where the openings were.
The Metallic power was widely considered the deadliest of the Big Ten abilities, but it didn’t mean sht if the user didn’t know how to fight.
osie faked a heavy overhead strike. The man raised his shield, leaving his midsection wide open.
She pivoted on her heel, dropping low, and drove her heavy combat knife upward in a vicious, lightning–fast arc.
SQUELCH.
The blade sank deep into his chest, burying itself to the hilt.
The Metallic Super gasped, his eyes going wide with shock as the metal shield clattered uselessly to the ground. Total, undeniable defeat.
I’m sorry, man! My bad!” the Metallic Super choked out, blood spilling over his lips as he instantly threw his hands up in surrender. I’m out of here! I won’t tell anyone I saw you, I swear! Just let me go!”
Josie just smirked behind her mask, twisting the knife slightly. “Is that right?”
She didn’t trust anyone. Especially not a rat she’d just trashed in an alleyway.
Metallic power was a top–tier ability. If a user maxed it out, they unlocked god–like skills like Sword Horde Barrage and Magnetic Convergence. At that

evel, a Metallic could go toe–to–toe with the Undead King himself.
But leveling up Metallic powers was a brutal, grueling nightmare. In her past life, only three people on Earth had ever reached max level.
Josie had been debating which power she should use her second Siphon slot on.
Looks like fate just delivered the perfect prize right to her doorstep.
Metallic it is.
Josie slammed her bare palm onto the top of the dying man’s head, gripping his skull tightly.
A glowing blue prompt flickered to life in front of her eyes:
Siphonable Power Detected: Tier–1 Metallic. Siphon? Yes/No]
She didn’t even blink. She hit Yes.
Wait.
Tier–1?
The apocalypse had literally just started hours ago–how the hell had this guy already jumped from Basic to Tier–1?
The guy was a natural prodigy. He had insane, once–in–a–generation potential.
Too bad for him, it was all hers now.
The guy’s eyes nearly popped out of his head. He felt it–a raw, massive, tearing force ripping the very core of his power right out of his chest.
What… what the fck are you doing to me?!” he choked out, his voice thick with pure, unadulterated terror.
Josie didn’t give him a second look
She felt the rush. Pure, electrifying strength flooded her veins as the Metallic power began rewriting her body on a cellular level. It felt like liquid fire pouring into her muscles, sharpening her senses, making the iron in her blood sing.
Damn.
So this was what it felt like to be a god.
In her past life, she had spent every waking moment watching the Supers with bitter, burning envy, wishing she had even a fraction of their strength.
This time, she was the one holding the ultimate power.
They didn’t call it the best of the Top Ten for nothing. The way it completely overhauled her physical body… it was night and day. The rush of power flooding her veins was intoxicating.
With the Siphon complete, Josie didn’t hesitate. She grabbed the poor bastard’s head with both hands and gave it a sharp, brutal twist.
SNAP.
The ‘talented‘ former Metallic Super slumped lifelessly to the concrete, his dead eyes still staring up at her in utter shock.
The world was a meat grinder now. Eat or be eaten. Survival of the fittest. Winners write history, and losers are just forgotten corpses left in the alley.
Josie stepped over his body, a satisfied smirk on her face. Her Tier–1 Siphon had a one–month cooldown. She’d have to wait another thirty days before she could rip the power out of someone else again.
But for now? She was more than satisfied.
Meanwhile, across town.
Victor Wallace and June had already heard the terrifying news. The Undead had arrived. The city was burning.
They traded a panicked look and immediately bolted for their private, high–security warehouse.
The apocalypse was officially here. The world was going up in flames, and for them, this was the ultimate opportunity to rule
They tore through the chaotic streets in a heavily armored SUV, slamming to a halt outside the warehouse loading bay. The massive security detail was still on duty, keeping a sharp, nervous eye on the perimeter.
‘Anyone suspicious come by? Victor barked as he stepped out of the vehicle, his hand resting on the pistol at his hip.
‘No, sir! All clear the captain replied sharply.

Both Victor and June let out a breath they didn’t know they were holding.

“Let’s go inside,” June said, her eyes narrowing suspiciously. “I won’t be able to relax until I see the stockpile for myself.”
Victor nodded, following her straight into the main warehouse.
But the second they stepped through the heavy steel doors, they knew something was horribly, terribly wrong.
Where the hell were the inside guards?
The deeper they went, the more that cold, sinking feeling in their guts grew.
