“And don’t go thinking my Spatial power is just some glorified backpack.”
“Hell no. If all it did was store junk, it wouldn’t be Tier–SSS.”
“Sure, right now it’s just for storage. But that’s only because my rank is still too low.”
“Spatial powers are like the elemental ones–trash at the start, god–tier at the end. Once I hit the high–ranks, my Dimensional Blade can one–shot Undead a whole rank above me.”
“The catch? Leveling up is a nightmare. Almost nobody ever makes it to the Dimensional Blade stage.”
“Then there’s Devouring. I don’t really need to explain that one, right? It does what it says on the tin. It swallows any ability–based attack at my rank or lower. The only exception is psychic attacks.”
“The one that catches you off guard the most is the Psychic power,” Josie said, her expression turning grim. “It’s a silent killer. It doesn’t just fry your brain in an instant—it can command entire swarms of Undead on the battlefield. Basic telekinesis? That’s child’s play. Not even worth mentioning.”
“Remember what I told you before? High–rank Undead can coordinate their attacks. Now, imagine a high–rank Psychic Undead who actually understands military strategy.” Josie paused. The room went dead silent as everyone sucked in a sharp breath.
It finally clicked. They realized just how terrifying that Tier–3 Psychic Undead they’d run into three days ago really was.
No wonder Josie hadn’t tried to take it down.
She literally couldn’t win that fight.
“Focus on getting stronger,” Josie said. “In this hellscape, survival isn’t guaranteed for anyone. If you want to keep breathing, there’s only one way: keep leveling up. Period.”
“I want you guys to hit Tier–3 as fast as possible. You might not be king of the hill at that level, but at least you’ll be able to hold your
own.”
“Ms. Quinn, are there many others out there like you? You know, Dual–Class Supers?” Hudson, the Blue Owl Vice Captain, asked.
“Yeah, but they’re rare,” Josie nodded. “Some people can unlock a secondary superpower, while others can’t. Like I said, it all comes down to your potential.”
“And don’t think that just because you were a badass before the world ended, you automatically have high potential. It doesn’t work like that. It’s pretty damn random.”
“Of course, if you were in peak physical shape to begin with, your chances of awakening are way higher.”
“That’s exactly why so many soldiers turned into Supers–and why so many of them ended up as Undead, too.”
Zane and the others kept nodding. Josie’s words hit home.
In the Blue Owl Squad, every single person except for one failed case had awakened an ability. That spoke volumes about their potential.
They were the elite before the collapse.
And they were still at the top of the food chain now.
But there’s always a bigger fish.

Someone like Josie was on a whole different level. Her powers were straight–up broken.

One of the Plant–type Supers in the group raised a hand. “Ms. Quinn, I’m a Plant–type. What’s the faster way to level up? Healing people or hunting Undead?”
Josie nodded. “Great question. That’s exactly what I was about to get into.”
“In theory, the more you use your power, the faster you level up. So yeah, more healing technically means a faster rank–up. But here’s the kicker!” Josie scanned the room. “Unless you plan on never seeing a day of action for the rest of your life, you better get out there and fight! A rank earned by sitting back and healing is worlds apart from a rank forged in blood.”
“Fate gave you Plant–type powers to be a medic, sure. But you can’t just be a medic–you have to be a soldier first!”
“Think about it. Does the medic in your squad skip training? Do they get a pass when it’s time to hit the front lines?”
“Even the guys in the mess hall have to pick up a gun when things go south. Why would a healer be any different?”
