Doomsday Revenge: Payback Time (Josie) novel Chapter 150

Chapter 150

The Director swung a door open and gestured for her to see for herself.

Josie looked up and nearly choked on her own breath.

Holy crap.

A massive greenhousethe size of the Grand Arenastretched out before her. It was packed with plants she couldn’t even begin to

name.

And they were all normal. No mutations.

What is all this?Josie’s voice shook. A living encyclopedia? A worldwide plant reunion?

Yeah, put it that way and you’re not wrong, the Director said. When the world first went to hell, the main AgriScience Institute was overrun by the undead. Technically, this place isn’t the main headquarters. We’re just a small branch.*

Our main job here was just planting and maintenance.

We were forced to pull back to this spot to protect the species.

Then, plants from every growing base across the country started getting shipped here.

Wait, hold on a secondJosie realized something. You said the start of the apocalypseWhen exactly did you guys start moving?

The day after that weird meteor shower. That was the real start. Most people are cluelessthey think the undead outbreak two months ago was the beginning.

It wasn’t. Right after the meteor shower, some people awakened superpowers while others turned into the undead. We knew things were going south fast.

The higherups made the call and started relocating everything immediately.

But we ran out of time. The country is just too big. There was too much to do and not enough time to do it.

Even these cropswe couldn’t get them to a safer place before the undead swarm hit.

We ended up trapped. Couldn’t leave, couldn’t move. We lost all contact with the outside world.

I’ve already braced for the worst. The government? The guys at the top? They’re probably gone. It’s every man for himself now.

Logically, all of this is just dead weight. If you want to survive, you ditch the cargo and run.

But look around. This is decades of blood, sweat, and tears from the AgriScience Institute. How can I just walk away from it?

The Director’s hair was bonewhite. His voice cracked as he spoke, tears streaming down his face. What I’m really terrified of is that without protection, these crops will justvanish. They’ll be wiped off the face of the Earth forever.

“I just wanted to do something for humanity. To keep the spark aliveto save the seeds of our future.

I heard rumors. Word is you’ve got a massive storage spacea spatial storage that can hold anything. So, I’m begging you. Can you help? Can you take all of this?

When this nightmare ends, when we finally rebuild societythese plants need to be there. They’ll be the foundation of everything again.
