Chapter 158
Once Chairman Cole was gone, Josie called a meeting.
The room was a lot more crowded this time.
Besides the Blue Owl Squad, the old–timers from the Agri–Science Institute joined in.
They were the ones in charge of production, after all. No supplies meant no production.

Josie leaned back in her chair, tapping her fingers on the table. “That’s the situation. Discuss it amongst yourselves and figure out what supplies we need. Make a list. I’ll check my space–if I have it, I’ll pull it out for you to use now. Then, we’ll charge the Base double for it later!”
She said it with total boss energy, like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Everyone else just grinned.
The discussion kicked off immediately.
The Blue Owl Squad mostly wanted electronics–chips and parts for building drones.
osie nodded. She definitely hadn’t stocked up on those.
Well, more accurately, June hadn’t.
The Agri–Science crew had a much longer list. It was a massive, detailed mess of items.
osie scanned it. She had a few of the items in her space, but the rest were a no–go.
As for food?
Nobody even brought it up.
Everyone knew Josie’s space was so packed with food that this group couldn’t finish it all if they ate for a thousand years.
Besides, what do the people from the Agri–Science Institute do best?
They grow things!
No food? No veggies? They’ll just sprout their own.
So, while food was a life–or–death issue for everyone else, it was the one thing Josie’s team had in spades.
Down the road, they could probably use their massive stockpile to trade for whatever they wanted.
I’ve got a couple of things to add,” the old Director of the Institute spoke up. “Have you guys noticed how cold it’s getting? Maybe we should stock up on charcoal or coal?”
osie nodded. “I’ve already got that covered. A lot of it.”
Once again, shout out to June and that rich sucker Victor for the “gift.
They really went all out on the coal.
We’re talking dozens of train cars worth of the stuff.
It should be plenty to last them.
But the Director wasn’t finished. “I’m not a meteorologist, but my wife is. She says the weather this year is wrong. You can’t use common sense to predict what’s coming.”
The little old lady sitting next to him gave a shy, awkward smile. She looked like she had major social anxiety.
When she realized everyone was looking at her, she started rubbing her hands together nervously, looking like she wanted to disappear. She couldn’t get a single word out.

Josie could see she was genuinely panicking, so she quickly looked away to give her some space. She turned back to the Director “Give me the details.”
Weather reports used to rely on satellite feeds and big data models,” the Director said. “But now? We’ve lost contact with every single satellite. We’re flying blind. And that rain we just had? It was insane. Nothing like it in recorded history.”
