Chapter 184
June stood frozen, desperately forcing herself to calm down.
But wait. The more she thought about it, the more it felt.. off. Something didn’t add up.
Because back when the apocalypse first hit, Josie didn’t have a single superpower to her name.
Then, the second she lost her spatial power, she got it right back.
And then, out of nowhere, she’d gained a metallic power too. She didn’t even know when it happened.
At first, she figured it was just a fluke.

But this time, my Plant–type power just… vanished. Out of nowhere. And then she suddenly has it? Not just the power, but a Tier–3 Plant–type power at that!
What are the odds of a coincidence like that?
The space, the Plant–type power–no matter how I look at it, those are my powers. The ones I lost for no reason.
But how the hell is that even possible?
How the hell did my own powers end up on Josie? It didn’t make sense. My abilities were gone, and somehow, she had them.
What kind of secret was Josie hiding? What was she keeping from her?
A
“Josie, I’ll find out every single one of your secrets sooner or later!” June ground out through gritted teeth. “Mark
“Fine by me!” Josie replied with a smirk. “I’d love to see you try!”
June bit her lip, snatched her hand back, and spun around to leave. “Hold it,” Josie called out, stopping her. “Did I
say you were done?”
The words hadn’t even left her mouth when a throwing knife shot straight for June’s face.
A jet of water slammed into it a second later, knocking it
of the air.
my words!”
“Wait, weren’t you a Plant–type Super? Since when did you switch to Aquatic?” Josie shouted, making sure everyone heard. “How’d that happen?” June had originally planned to wait a bit before telling the world she’d awakened an Aquatic superpower.
But now that Josie had called her out, she decided to just roll with it and go public.
Sticking to the story she and her parents had cooked up, June shouted, “I used some Power Rain a few days ago and awakened a secondary superpower. That’s where this Aquatic power came from!”
Josie kept pushing her. “A secondary superpower? So, you’re a Dual–Class Super now too?”
June grit her teeth. “Yeah,” she forced out. “But that awakening really messed me up. I’ve got some serious internal damage. My Plant–type power is offline for now. Once I get my aquatic ability leveled up, the Plant–type one will kick back in.”
“Oh, is that how it works?” Josie laughed so hard she was practically doubling over.
Fine. Perfect.
So June refuses to admit her Plant–type power is gone?
Smart move.
An unstable Super is worth next to nothing. Their value drops through the floor the second they glitch.
It’s actually better if she keeps lying.
This way, my own Plant–type power is totally in the clear. No one will ever connect the dots.
I didn’t exactly need an alibi, but it didn’t hurt. Especially not before I siphoned that Devouring ability. It was better to stay off everyone’s radar for
DOW.
