Meru

osie was just waiting for June to show up so she could completely, utterly break her.

Killing them quickly was too easy. Too merciful. She wanted to crush their souls into fine dust. And once? Once wasn’t nearly enough.

she’d torture them over and over. She’d make them beg for the sweet release of death, and then she’d force them to keep breathing, trapped in their own

niserable skins.

Was she taking it too far? Was she being too cruel?

Jah.

osie let out a dark, breathless chuckle. She didn’t give a damn.

In this twisted, rotting world, being alive wasn’t much better than being dead anyway.

light now, Josie was completely, unapologetically unhinged.

And it made perfect sense.

After enduring ten years of absolute, bloodsoaked hell in her past life, who the fck wouldn’t be a psycho? Normal, sane people didn’t exist anymore.

o what if she was crazy?

et the whole world go mad with me.

peak of the devil.

frantic, heavy knock echoed against her apartment door. Josie! Are you in there? Your parents are back!a nosy neighbor yelled from the hallway. They look pretty beat uparen’t you going to come out and check on them?!

>h?

ack already?

hat was absolutely perfect.

he had just been wondering how she was going to track the crippled bastards down in the middle of a zombie apocalypse.

and here they were, literally dragging their bloody stumps right to her doorstep.

>sie turned around, walked slowly back into the living room, and sank into the plush leather sofa. She crossed her long legs, rested her arms on the ackrest, and waited for Arthur and Sylvia to crawl back home.

Click. Clatter.

he sound of keys fumbling in the lock.

God, I’m wiped out. No matter how good it is out there with Victor, nothing beats being home.Sylvia’s voice drifted in, thin and exhausted, as the eavy door swung open. Arthur, we’re basically cripples now. Let’s just stay put in this apartment and stay out of June’s way

une is destined for greatness. We can’t be the dead weight holding her back from ruling this new world. We’ll keep our heads down so she doesn’t have worry about us.

Arthur wheeled himself in, nodding in solemn agreement. June is the only one with a real heart. Not like that ungrateful, psychotic btch Josie Uswear > God, if I ever see her again, I should have-

The heavy oak door clicked shut, and Arthur’s voice died violently in his throat.

Both of them froze dead in their tracks, their eyes locking onto Josie, who was sitting comfortably on the sofa, staring right back at them with an icy, redatory smirk.

The second they saw her face, their fragile composure snapped.

You little monster! You actually have the nerve to show your face here?!Screaming in pure, unadulterated rage, Arthur lunged forward in his vheelchair. He gripped his heavy metal crutch with his Super Strength and swung it like a baseball bat, alming directly for Josie’s skull.

osie didn’t even blink.

she didn’t summon her Legendary Blade. She didn’t even use her Metallic power.

ihe just tilted her head slightly to the left, letting the heavy metal crutch whistle violently past her ear, hitting absolutely nothing but

empty air.

Sylvia’s kind, weary motheract vanished instantly. She glared at Josie with a look so feral, so predatory, it was like she wanted to rip Josie’s throat out with her bare teeth. Josic, I was always so good to you! How could you be such a treacherous, backstabbing snake?!

Come on in. Let’s talk,* Josie said, her smile razorthin and bonechilling. “Unless you want the neighbors in the hallway to get a frontrow seat to the story of how you two started your dirty, disgusting little affair? I’m fine with an audience if you are.

What the hell are you talking about?!Arthur barked, his face flushing dark red, though his eyes darted nervously toward the door. I never cheated on anyone! Your mother was crazy!

Oh? Already forgot what you screamed at me yesterday while you were bleeding out on the sheets?Josie sneered, slowly standing up. It doesn’t matter if you own up to it or not. It won’t change a single fcking thing.

I’m still going to break you both.

Josie walked over and calmly slammed the heavy deadbolt on the front door, locking them all inside.

The second she turned back around, her hand went to her waist. She unbuckled her thick tactical leather belt, pulled it free with a sharp snap, and gave it a violent flick.

The heavy leather cracked through the silent air, humming with lethal tension.

What are you doing?Sylvia gasped, the color completely draining from her face as she backed her wheelchair up. Are you insane?!

Yeah, I’ve always been a psycho. Are you just now figuring that out?

Before the words even finished leaving her mouth, Josie swung her arm. The heavy brass buckle of the belt lashed across the room with blinding speed, striking Sylvia directly across the face.

*AGH!Sylvia let out a bloodcurdling shriek, her head snapping to the side as a raw, bleeding welt instantly welled up on her cheek.

Arthur’s eyes went completely red. He shoved his wheelchair forward, desperately trying to shield the woman he loved. Stop it! Right now!he roared, slamming his fists on his armrests. Even if I did your mother wrong, that was on me! It has absolutely nothing to do with Sylvia! You want someone to blame?! Come at me! Don’t you dare touch her!

Ha! Hahahaha!Josie threw her head back, her manic laughter echoing off the walls. She snapped the belt back instantly, catching Arthur squarely across his jaw.

You think I’m letting you off the hook?! Neither of you is getting away! Not today!
